Going back and seeing the build and profile. The AC4C1 has the same preamp as the Ac10 and Ac30S1. 2 12ax7 and top boost tone stack and the construction is no better than the AC10 which IMO is good.

Its the same as the bigger ones just smaller and IME with the AC15 this thing gets closer to the jangle cleans and OD tones at a lower headroom yes but can get practically as loud and weighs 25 pounds or so and I can easily carry with one hand.

Main thing for me is the tone at louder volumes and for me it handles high volumes pretty great and in some cases better than the AC15 thanks to the higher rated speaker. Lows dont mush out, highs are not overbearing and the amps tone still retains its substance at higher volumes.

Just wanted the AC tone in a smaller package but be able to play in a band or venue without being mic'ed.

I wasnt looking for a bedroom amp. I was looking for a small, easy and ready to use gig machine and IMO this thing delivers....and can pull of the bedroom thing too.

Cant wait to finally pick it up in 2 or so weeks!!!

Probably going to upgrade the speaker as soon as I get it to a Greenback or Creamback M65 for sure. Either this or the Eminence CV65 which is a Creamback M65 clone....Maybe a Scumback M75....

While the Vtype is a nice speaker I dont feel its got the girth and fatness a Greenback would bring paired with this amp.

Was going to put in a Creamback 75 or G12h 70th anni but the magnet is to big Im afraid.

    Next week. Finally mine!!!

Haha... all these plans n options n opinions n you haven't even got it yet!

Heaven forbid, if after you get it you realise it isn't the best thing since rock n roll was invented.

How would this AC4 compare to a small Fender like a Blues Jr?

i always think its funny when someone buys a guitar online and before they get it or play it they also buy new pickups, tuners, bridge, neck, body, strap buttons, etc....
but in this case theKid already has the ac15c1, which isnt really too far off from the ac4, so he kinda knows what he wants. the ac4 is a good amp as is, but it can be made much better by doing a few things.

im taking my ac4c112 to an audition tomorrow. the other guitarist uses a blues jr. i will let you know tomorrow night how they compare, as ill have them side by side. i dont know much about blues jrs and have only played through one. nothing special, imo. but that was a long time ago and i probably didnt have it set up right. im gonna ask dude if i can play through his a little and see if i like it better than before.

    ImO much better.
With the AC4 you actually get the top boost channel. A spiting clone of my AC15C1 top boost chanel with less headroom. Great highs, thight lows, fat midrange.

The Blues Junior...a marketing amp to fullfil a price point with no real identity. The highs are flat, the lows fart out and the mids sound gargly.

I was just after a smaller AC15 cranked tone in a small package. This thing did that for me.

Just upgrading speaker because it sounds amazing now....with a speaker upgrade I can only imagine its going to be heaven.

its loud as hell. those 4 watts sound much bigger than 4 watts. plenty loud for regular gigs.

Yeah, four watts usually sounds bigger than four watts... dB stuff and all, perceived as "about half as loud" as 40 watts.

I saw Popa Chubby at the Blue Note Grill last week, and his 35 watt Vibrolux was freaking deafening.

Havent taken it out to test but from the volume coming out of the demo room IMO it gets just as loud as my AC15.

Only thing is lower headroom but that is understandable given the wattage.

Also for a lack of clean headroom the cleans are usable too and gigable at a small to medium venue. But slight break up to full on blast its loud enough on its own for sure.

    A Vibrolux is a monster.

Anything 30 watts and up is big enough IMO for moat venues. Anything higher gets the job done for sure.

The main thing I was after was gigable volume in smaller package.

This thing passed with flying colors and the tone is great too.

    This.

I really wanted the AC15 top boost tone in a smaller package but above all else it needed to carry the same mojo and well loudness and gigable volume.

Definately does the job and gets into punkass loud rude little retard zone and still sounds amazing azzfuu
