Heck, considering the recent binge you might as well snag a black light, some black light paint and a few strands of x-mas lights (tiny bulbs, your choice of color) to create a border. Ya go that far you might as well grab the strobe light too. Ahhhh, JK. (I do like the lava lamp suggestion though)

Welcome aboard. Here's to an unlimited imagination. Have fun!

Lovely guitars. Welcome & have fun practicing!

Between Youtube guitar backing tracks, my music library & my Trio pedal, I can find suitable accompaniment for my basement 'concerts'.

    So far so good.

I have finished my playing area and will see the doctor on Monday as to why the base of my thumbs are so sore. Finger tips are sore as well but I expected that. Google leads me to believe I have inflamed tendons (DeQuervains Tendonitis) in both thumbs but mostly the left one. Hopefully it will go away but I figure I might as well give my doctor a co-pay so he can continue his "practice." I wish I could get paid as much money as doctors do and still call it a practice . . .

I took down the black photography background in favor of a few more low-key decorations for the playing area. First poster is supposed to be a chalk-like drawing of a guitar patent. The second is an exploded view of a Straticastor guitar. The third is somewhat self explanatory. I wanted some sort of a rock poster on my wall but not five guys with their shirts off. The Route 66 road sign came from a hobby store and I stained a few pieces of wood and mounted the sign to that. The fender t-shirt is there to take up some white wall along with that silly stage fright sign. Fear can be the one thing that really prevents us from living our lives to the fullest and for musicians that can be stage fright. I really try to not live a life in fear as that is no life at all, hence the stenciled sign.

I intend to hit it pretty hard from now through the end of March devoting as much of my spare time as I can; tendons willing.

Too much too soon. Doctor said could be tendonitis or worse. I asked him not to elaborate on the worse and I'll just see how the injection works. Need to take a few days off.

Thanks to those who have PM'd me with links to sites and apps to help me get going.

Good, thanks for asking. The cortisone helped the left thumb a little bit but I hope with continued playing I can work through it or at least just kind of ignore it. Part of this is just adapting to not being 25 anymore. I head downstairs as soon as I am done with breakfast and will keep the process moving along.

By the end of March I'll have had three solid months of practice and I'll do an assessment then. Watching "how to play" Youtube videos in inspiring but then I get to playing basic chords and hitting individual notes and it is a reality check but I kind of planned on this.

I have to say it is really fun heading down to my play area knowing I have a couple hours at a time to focus on something creative. And to think this time five years ago I did a sting with H&R Block doing tax returns. IRS Tax code and guitar are polar opposites when it comes to creativity.

I think one of the hardest parts is this very beginning phase. You (everyone) starts out with very little finger dexterity. And it hurts. Many just can't past this.

Keep up the practice and it will all get easier. You don't have to stretch for that barre F chord right off the bat. Just keep them fingers moving.
