Can someone tell me what that chord is that Eric starts playing at 1:03
Is it Gbdim with C as the bass?

At 1:03 it appears he's just playing a double stop

Right, high-E up and low E toward the floor. It changes the playing style noticeably.

Hey, @StratPlus97 - You've got the notes now, but even better is knowing why those notes in particular work the way they do. If you've listened to much blues at all, you probably recognize that little phrase he's playing as a very common and useful one.

@Chuck Conner is right - it's really part of a C7, which you can see by adding the high E on the 1st string at the 12th fret. It's the same shape as the D7 everyone knows in open position, just moved up 10 frets. More importantly, it's part of a million phrases that go something like this:

    E-------------------------------
    B---11-----10-----8-----------
    G---12-----10-----9-----------
    D-------------------------------
    A-------------------------------
    E-------------------------------

You can think of those as fragments of a C7, F, and C, but really they're often played so quickly that the middle notes are just kind of passing tones. Of course, you can (and should) reverse the order as well.

Anyway - I wanted to turn you on to these in case you weren't familiar with them. They're part of many great blues licks.

    Now there’s an idea
If I had a guitar anywhere near me, I would do just that.
    Very clever.

Does anyone know when that was recorded? It's a brilliant band, Clapton sounds in top form & Trucks is a monster - but I already knew that. It would be cool if Trucks was with him in Hyde Park next month.

I'm so burned out on the I-IV-V 12-bar blues. Anymore, every lick sounds like a cliche to me.

I wasn't going for clever. It seemed so simple, I thought you may have been a new player, rather than tell you, especially given the other "clues", I thought it might be more satisfying for you to figure it out. Sorry to offend you.

It's mind boggling how anyone can do it...I can't even make cowboy chords with my right hand.
