Have a guy locally selling what he says is a 2004 MIM Strat but he is unsure of the color. He doesn't seem to know much about the guitar so I'm a little leery. Especially since I'm still a rookie myself. He's saying he would take $350 for the guitar. If it's actually a real MIM without any issues, I might buy it to have as a extra Strat to modify and play around with. Can anyone tell me more about this guitar? Is it legit? Is it really a Fender? What is the actual color? What is it really worth?

2004 MIM Standard Strat. Could be Agave Blue.

For 350$ I'd buy it. Maybe offer 300, but I'd buy at 350.

    It's legit.

$350 is the high side of used retail, but not outrageous.

Thanks guys. I hadn't heard of Agave Blue, but after a quick Google Image search it certainly seems like this is what the color is. Looks pretty good to me. I'll over $250 and maybe see where it goes from there. The guy is a good hour drive away though.

Apparently the guy isn’t budging from $350...

Looks the same colour as mine. I didn't know it was Agave Blue - now I do - cheers for that. Only difference is mine has a maple fretboard, and came with CS54 PUPs.

It is some sort of greenish ocean blue with sparkly bits.

You could check out E-bay. That price seems high to me though, unless he has a hard shell case for it.

I'm in agreement that it's a little high without a hard case. Didn't they make some improvements latter in the decade?

In my area used MIM's are $250 - $300, and unless this is an absolutely as new its overpriced by about $50.

If you get the chance to play this guitar see how comfortable it plays and if it’s setup nicely and sounds superb to your ears then it ain’t bad for $350. From pics it looks pretty darn clean to me.

It looks good. If it plays and sounds good and the gig bag comes with $350 is fair.

I also think it's Agave Blue.

I love that color! I've been gasing for it for ages!
Check the serial number with Fender ( and if it checks out, then go for it!

It looks legit although according to the serial number site it says it should be an HSS strat but that is sometimes wrong. The price is on the high side although it's not outrageously high, they do occasionally go for that much and it does look clean and is a less common color. But I would pass since MIM standards are a dime a dozen and with a little patience you should be able to find one cheaper in similar condition.
