I must be Italian. Pineapple on a pizza borders on sacrilege

True Neapolitan Pizza Association might not approve. But it's OK. Most people do not like my favorite of anchovies and onion.

EDIT: Proper name: Associazione Verace Pizza napoletana - yes there is a regulatory group for pizza. Very few shops outside of Italy can gain certification by the AVPN.

Just imagine what they'd think of broccoli pizza, or cauliflower crust.

Oh man, the thought of anchovies and onion pizza is making me hungry! Yum!

And I’m good with ham and pineapple, too.... I can’t think of any pizza I don’t like...

    Pineapple is good

Hawai'ian local food is da kine..even flatbreads with pineapple on top.

But I'd rather eat a 3-scoop rice plate...or some Lau-lau or good kalua pig.

    (now, where's my Hawai'ian guitar?

Pizza to me means old-school NY style Neapolitan-inspired thin crust pizza with toppings my nonna would have used.

Next up, what Italians think of partscasters!

I like Pepperoni Pizza. Other types are fine but for myself, a thin crispy crust not overloaded with sauce, lots of cheese, pepperoni and floating grease is where its at.

Canadian bacon, or ham with pineapple on pizza, it’s the best. As a matter of fact we are picking up two Hawaiian pizzas tonight and going to a friends house to watch Bohemian Rhapsody. Can’t wait.

First, some context. The pizza most of us know in the USA is American. Hawaiian pizza is as authentic as any other.

Italian pizza, made by southerners and Sicilians, is a round shape, but very different. It's much thinner and much more delicate. You have to eat it as soon as it's out of the oven. Delivering it would be a messy waste of time. There are places in the USA that make it, but it's hard to find.

And yes, there are differences between Italo-American and Italian food beyond that. Happily, it can be a great area of further research.

Mom's family is Italian and some of my relatives are still in the restaurant business.
