My daughter just came by and we had a pizza for lunch. Papa Murphy’s. It was pretty good, but then again I was really hungry.

For most of my early life it was:

    made at home - or

thin crust Neapolitan-New York style like at Venezia's in the 1960's.

Of course the pizza chains came along...Shakeys'...Pizza hut...Pizza Inn...then the take-out/delivery Domino's, etc.

In other words, same crap as anywhere else at that point.

    Now

    some good stuff

The Germans had a pizza in the 80's ( and may still have) called the Vierjahrzeiten meaning the Fours Seasons. Each quarter of the pizza had a different topping representing a season, and smack dab in the center was a fried egg, sunny side up, representing....the sun, of course.

A Sicilian or Neapolitan tomato pie... with onions, peppers, black olives and both hot & sweet sausage on it... is a pizza... throwing pineapple on it... no longer pizza... it can be no other way.. just sayin...

Who would put pineapple on a sausage pizza ? Pineapple would go on a Canadian bacon, or ham, or (if in Hawaii, SPAM) pizza. How about Canadian Bacon and sauerkraut pizza ?

Imagine the care going into creating a great smashed up pizza! The attention to detail alone there is top notch. Nice work here, still recognizable as a pizza, yet the damage looks like it was there naturally. :thumb:

In the case of Pizza, a fresh custom shop relic pizza is infinitely preferable to an original 1958 or '62 vintage Pizza.
