Way back in the 1980s when I was still but a teenager, my first pedal was a ProCo Rat. Wish I still had it.

My first pedal was a vintage Vox Distortion unit (circa 1982).

The one below (shortly followed by a purchase of the phaser from the same series):

I got given two pedals by the same guy. A B&M Fuzz and a Melos Mini Fazer

A Boss BF-2 Flanger circa 1985 was my first pedal...I'm pretty-sure it set me back around $85:00, which took quite a while to save-up & buy lol. ( If you think that's a fair wad-of-cash now, it was huge in the mid-80's as a supermarket working school-kid lol ). I still have it, & it works fine to this day !

Oddly enough, it got most of it's professional use when I gigged for a few years with an acoustic-guitar running through a PA. Sounded great too !

Mine was a Shaftesbury Duo-Fuzz in the late 70s, and having seen the prices they go for now, I wish I still had it! It would probably sound better than it did then too, as I as using pretty crap guitars and amps in those days.

Few years later I had a Coloursound Supa Wah Fuzz Swell and later still a pair of Ibanez pedals; analog delay and chorus.

Then in the mid-80s I discovered Boss, and never looked back. I'm still using them. My board currently consists of:
    GE-7 Equaliser
    CS-3 Compression Sustainer
    SD-2 Dual Overdrive
    TR-2 Tremolo
    BF-2 Flanger
    PH-2 Super Phaser.

In the past I've also used an HM-2 Heavy Metal, DC-2 Dimension C, and one of the Digital Delays. Think it was a DD-3 but sold it years ago to buy a Line 6 Delay Modeler.

My first was an EHX LPB1 which was not technically a pedal, it plugged into your guitar and you plugged your cable into it. Linear power booster, so it would goose your signal into overdrive.

Soon after I got a huge Morley Fuzz Wah, which was all kinds of cool.

Not exactly a pedal, but an effects box - an original Tom Scholz Rockman.
My first actual pedals - I traded in a crappy guitar for a new Ernie ball Volume pedal and a used Boss DD2 - still have the DD2 to this day.

I bought the EHX Small Clone with the wood box in the late 90s. I was in the whole Nirvana thing at the time, it was a neat pedal, but I quickly moved on to mainlining distortion and other stomp boxes and became a full-blown addict.

Same here, I got one from my parents for Christmas around 1989, give or take a year, along with a little Peavey Rage practice amp. I remember my mom saying that the guys at the guitar shop said it was the pedal all the kids were asking for.:D

I played bass in high school, and I bought a Vox Bass Booster that plugged into the input jack..basically a fixed gain solid state amplifier with just a manual on/off switch. Needless to say, I left it on all the time..............

Later, when I started playing guitar, I bought my first guitar effect..a Big Muff.
