a radio shack fuzz pedal. Bought to cover the Rolling Stones' new song Satisfaction when it was being played constantly on the radio. So I could play it at an upcoming High School Dance

20 years ago....used first run Ibanez ts-9 re-issue Tubescreamer....still have it (although it's since been modded to an 808 by Analog Man), then followed immediately with a re-issue Vox wah..... the last pedal I bought, finally, an original 1984 ts-9 Tubescreamer (only took me 20 years to get one haha)....2 tube screamers and a wah!! Clearly SRV is my hero lol

My first "real" (i.e. not DIY) pedal was the Soviet "Lell Drive Distortion" from 90s
If filter out the bad mechanics (the switch is just terrible and you could stomp several times to switch it on/off) it sounded quite good.

My first pedal was the Boss EQ-7 and the Fender tuner pedal. Still have them! However before that I had a big pedalboard from Korg. That was my real first "effect pedal".

    Ok
Mid 70's MXR Dist+ for me. This and a MXR Dynacomp were the only two effects I used for many years, bought it new and I still have it.

    A crybaby, late 1999.

It seemed like it should be THE pedal to have, (I still think that way). By early 2002, I got into repainting things. in the space of a year it was bare metal, purple sparkle, blue, a sort of dark sage green metallic, hemi orange, and Shelby Blue, complete with racing stripes and bare metal again, but scraped up with a grinder on purpose (a sort of Zakk Wylde look).

That pedal is long gone, but I still have the pot. It refuses to die. It's in my Vox King.

I bought a similar model on sale at Marrs Music's grand opening sale years ago. It also had an expression pedal.

2 years ago I bought my first 2 pedals at once: a Boss TU-3, and a Boss BD-2.

My first pedal was a Boss Ds-1 distortion pedal. I was young with a limited income. Things have changed since then.

My spiritual brother! I had the HM2 and a CE3 Stereo Chorus. I hated that HM2 and ended up replacing it with a DS-1, which I still have. My buddy back in the day made a better choice: an MXR Distortion+. It sounded so much better than my DS-1. It also probably didn't hurt that he was a better player than I was.

My first was a DOD Supra Distortion :)

Sounded okay. It was like a blend of Distortion and Fuzz. Not bad, but not great.
