I was chatting to a friend at Shadows Club recently, he was going on about an acquaintance of his who he's convinced doesn't like him. He's one of these guys who doesn't seem to like anybody. He blows hot and cold; one day he'll greet you like a long lost friend, another you'll be pushed to get a word out of him. We're all used to it, but my friend is one of those who doesn't read people very well.

Then suddenly he said, "He likes you, though."

"How do you know?" I asked.

He replied, "He's just upgraded you from Idiot to Fool."

I couldn't be offended, I was too busy falling about laughing.
