most of my guitars are single coil
but i do keep a couple of p90s and humbuckers guitars nearby
guitar, color, type, pickup type clothes shoes and hair style change without notice.
Never cared much for p90s.
I prefer the McCarty pickup: P90s with rod mags instead of the bar and screws.
Cheap Trick lyric?
As has ben said, all of the above. Depends on my mood. I have guitars with singles, and guitars with humbuckers, but I can pick up any one of them and sound like me.
To emulate my guitar heros its single coils...
BUT the sound in my head is humbuckers. Love the sound.
Humbuckers for me unless I'm looking for some quack or that front single coil sound.
I don't know why anyone would pick just one they are all tools of the trade that's why they make
so many different hammers use the one the job calls for. And it's a good reason to have more Guitar's.
On my four electrics, I have 8 single coils and three humbuckers, so the nod goes to singles for no reason other than I have more, so I play more. I adjust the amp for whatever guitar I'm playing. But I do love playing a single, then kicking to a bridge humbucker for solo--that is my default combo in general.
Sadly, I've never, ever, owned a P90. Played my friend's '56 Les Paul TV several times and did love the sound. Only P90 I think I've ever played.
P90s unless I'm looking for quack.
If your amp is set for p90s and you switch to a single coil guitar, it'll sound weak and anemic. Set up your amp for single coil and plug in a P90 guitar and it'll sound even more awesome.
Isn’t that like asking if one prefers trees, flowers or grass? Or food, drink or sleep? Or music, beer or sex? Or Strats, Teles or Les Pauls? Or....
I see P90s as single coils, so I prefer the wide range of single coils.
Can only have one? P90s.
Did you ever play a nice Gibson LP Special?
I would use an adjustable bridge on one, though.
A good guitar with P90's is quite versatile and good sounding. The McCarty is a real specialty, great tone indeed, but I've had very pleasing results with plain vanilla P90's.
How long is a rope?
Oh yeah, very nice. Love Specials and also LP with P90's
Which do you prefer: Single Coils, P90s, or Humbuckers?
Yes, I prefer them.
