For me, and I’m showing my age here, it was Billy Corgan. The sound he got on Siamese Dream was the most amazing sound I had heard at that point in my impressionable years. Share your stories!

I had already been playing 40 years, primarily Teles ans Les Pauls, when my wife brought home a Rosanne Cash album called "King's Record Shop". The guitarist, Stewart Smith, was playing an amazing variety of solos, all on a Stratocaster. Until I heard what he was doing I had never been very interested in Strats. But Stewart was getting such a range of great tones, I decided to give the Strat a try. That was 1982, and just today I bought my 10th Strat, a sienna burst Professional.

John Ross Lang (lyricist, songwriter, guitarist...in that order).

We were in Voltage Guitars in Los Angeles because he wanted something. While there he pointed to a Hardtail and suggested that I take it home. So I did.

Saw Buddy Merrill on Lawrence Welk's TV show. Different, cool looking guitar and sounds neat. Then Buddy Holly .....

My first Fender was a Tele in 1971. Inspired by my teacher.

My first Strat was in '79. Inspired by Clapner.

Kirk Hammet, Hendrix and SRV. Playing metal on a Strat is what it's all about.

I’m right with ya :thumb: For me as well it was Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins who made me wanna run after a Fender Strat.

Albums like Siamese Dream, Gish and Mellon Collie we’re so amazing.

And I feel lucky I share the same birthday with Billy on March 17th :thumb:

I have a Fender Strat with loaded Billy Corgan Dimarzio pickups/controls and a Reverend BC1 Billy Corgan Signature Model. Check out the Reverend BC1 you’ll love it ;)

Nobody famous but my whole family played. Most are gone now but music was pretty much in our blood. My problem is I didn't stick with it when I started at 12 years old.

A Strat? I knew some cats that played them and I got infatuated with SRV for a bit and then Clapton as I was discovering the blues simultaneously. I really wanted a Gibson ES-335, but the $2800 price tag put it on the other side of the universe and the Strat was accessible/affordable and was exhilarating to play. And I love them and have been a Strat guy ever since.

    And I’ve got two -335’s now. :)
