I know, I just poured gasoline on the floor and waiting for somebody to come along with a lighted match:whistling: I read somewhere, that a guitar player's choice revolves around who they listened to between the ages of 11 thru 14. AKA ..... blame it on the radio. Anyways, back to the the thread. Hendrix is generally and deservingly, listed as #1. Innovation rules the roost here. Page is listed as #2, I believe because of orchestration ( Stairway being voted as the number one rock song of all time) he was doing 'rave ups with Beck in the Yardbirds as a foundation) Eddie was voted in at #3, understandably so, because no one style was the 'bible" to a million beginning guitarists worldwide. So bring your matches and give us your feedback on these guitarist polls.

I fed the data into my algorithm and it tells me that the #1 rock guitarist is liam Gallagher. Hey, he's not my personal favorite, but you can't argue with science.

There is only one who is universally acknowledged as the hands-down best. One that destroys all arguments and comparisons and is placed on his rightful pedestal 42 miles above #2. I have to agree, because I've studied these things and dedicated my life to trying to be as good as him.

Based solely on my interpretation of what "Rock" is, I'm going with Slash.

Hey, Liam Gallagher is so obvious, you don't have to mention his name.

According to the OP's suggested criteria, I would have to go with, ahem, Vinnie Vincent. Before BPM were a thing, for a brief time talent was subjectively evaluated based on NPM (notes per minute).

I think those polls are ridiculous and half or more of the people voting don't even play guitar. Personally I do not like Hendrix at all (except his BOG stuff) and can't stand listening to the all the noisy, feedbacking whammy bar crap he did for so many years. Also while I can listen to SRV for a few songs his stuff eventually wears on me and I have to move on. EVH never did anything for me.

I do like Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Larry Carlton for sure, Robben Ford is pretty good and Jim Campilongo is awesome and unique which really makes me take notice of a player.
