I thought this may be ocean turquoise but after looking at pictures, that is not correct. Any ideas? Made in the USA w serial that Fender says is 1983-1985. Thank you for looking.

It's hard to tell with pics but how does Emerald Green sound to you?

Is a bit of the grain visible?

    Does pewter darken?

    Does black lighten?

    How about some more pics?

That sure looks like gunmetal grey to me.....it's not from 83-85, the American Standard didn't come out until late 1986/early 1987 but they used leftover earlier serial number....

It's not Sherwood Green for sure, they never came in that color....

Fender told me that based off serial E456878, that this unit was from 1983-1985 but that records were spotty during that time. I am finding all kinds of things on ebay & reverb..... is vintage guitar or Orion blue book worth it?

Yours is an early American Standard.....Fender is incorrect but they are a lot of the time on pre-1994 stuff unfortunately......

Value in good condition with original case is about 600-750 US I'd say.....

    Welcome to the forum!

Can you either remove the backplate or pickguard and take a picture of unexposed area? That should be closer to the original color.

With the new pics I would have also guessed Sherwood Green metallic.

I keep seeing this color in custom's that are worth way more & want to make sure that I know what I have. I cannot find any USA 1985ish strats in this color on the web.

You are thinking of AVRI Fender vintage re-issues, your guitar is not one. I'm 100% sure it's from late 1986 or early 1987.....

Those AVRI's look totally different - different headstock logo, different tuners, different style bridge, 21 instead of 22 frets...they look like old Strats from the 50s and 60s....

You have an early American Standard Stratocaster made in Corona California.....and value is as previously stated :)

Here is a link below to one like yours / very similar.....Gunmetal Blue...

They look like they fit a flat head screw driver so I going with flat. I did post a pic below. Thanks for responding!

They all fit a flathead screwdriver, it's just if the tops of the screws are domed or totally flat.....that's what the person was asking....

Not sure if you saw but here's a link to one just like yours - color is Gunmetal Blue

No such thing as a 1985 US Strat, other than the AVRIs (which this is not).
    Well, they are exceedingly rare.
