Do you have a red one?
Do you have a blue one?
Do you have a black one?
Do you have a sunburst one?
Do you have one with a maple neck?
Do you have one with a rosewood neck?
Do you have one with a 7.5 neck?
Do you have one with a 9.5 neck?

If you answered no to any of those questions... you need another Strat. I may have left a couple of questions out, lol

If you don't have all of the AV and AVRI models, an EJ and an EC, and maybe a couple of Custom Shop models, then you need another Strat. But, don't hesitate to throw in at least one Tele for a little variety.

I just built a dual humbucker partscaster with coil splitting. It can rock a little harder than a stock s-s-s strat.
The advantage is to have a strat like object that sounds different than my other two strats.

The question could be...have you seen the new Fender replacement line for the 'former' American Special?

Macawber type Tele (humbucker in neck) just like my FAVORITE of all time Tele I shouldn't have sold...SORRY- MY gas got in the way..back to YOU, OP...

YOU could score a good used American Special or just blow the wad and get the new Am. Special replacement for $1099.00 new. Be darned if I can remember the name of the new line...o_O:mad:

If playing guitar makes you happy and it's not going to cripple your finances then why not?

Do you ever need another guitar? Probably not. But sometimes it's good just to get something you want.

In summer I bought my first new Strat for over 20 years and I freakin' love it!!!

Thanks Brian. This is a really good idea and I am going to re-think my plan. I'd probably have to sell a guitar to make it work and I have a Schecter Hellraiser I planned on selling anyway. That American Special looks like it would be perfect!

Why should you get another Strat?

I’d say you should get another Strat if it provides something your existing Strat doesn’t. It could be aesthetics, a different neck or different tones but regardless, I’m sure you’ll know what it is.

I believe that thinking of guitars as "entry level" or "mid level" skews the thinking. I've got some great Fenders and Gibsons, but my Squier Stratocasters currently get most of my playing time because they're well-constructed instruments that speak to me and do what I want (within the range of my laughable skills).

By all means, get whatever you want. In this forum we're ready facilitators of that addiction, as many (most?) of us are irretrievably addicted. Just give it a try without thinking of levels or what's better. Just go at it from the standpoint of "how do I want it to sound, feel, and play?"

For me, the question would be why shouldn't I get another Strat?

Given the different woods and finishes involved it would be darn near impossible to not have some hole in the lineup.

Well said. I'm still a little blown away at how good my squier is after a setup. For that matter, I have an epiphone lp special p90 that is a really nice, and I got it when musicians friend was blowing them out for about $100. But, I think for budget guitars, Squiers are amazing.
