    I wish.

Happens all the time with clothes, books and DVDs. And once, I found 25 unopened sleeves of Nespresso under my coat after a month. (Edit: I wasn't wearing the coat, it was all just sitting on a chair in the living room.)
But guitars? Never, I'm sorry to say.

    A pedal, maybe.
    Other gear, of course.
    A guitar, no.

I don't forget them but I spend enough time not playing not playing a particular guitar, that I come back to it and remember why I bought it in the first place! It's great when that happens because it's a bit like getting a new guitar, but without any cash changing hands. :D

I’ve done the opposite - the heartbreaking, gut wrenching realization that the guitar you THOUGHT was in the closet, you actually sold years ago. :(

I’ve spent 30 minutes searching for a guitar in the house, trying to figure out where I might have stored it, only to have that cold chill realization that I sold it. Can’t even remember exactly when, or to whom, or why - but a vague recollection of selling it. (I buy and sell a bunch of guitars...)

Worst part is that I was searching for the guitar for a particular reason, so the gut punch that it wasn’t there felt like it had been stolen.

On a side note, I don’t always label my cases well, and sometimes take a guitar out of one and put another guitar in there. There have been plenty of times where I opened a case fully expecting to see one guitar, but another was in there - that I possibly had forgotten I even ownef. Yes, the problem with GAS and buying stuff online on a whim, but then just putting it in the closet shortly after it arrives - you do end up forgetting that you bought something!

This happens to me alot. Like another recent post about the feelng of opening the case and unveiling the guitar. I do enjoy that to. Thats one of many reasons i keep them in cases.

So yes. I do forget the attraction of some of the guitars i have, until i crack open the cases looking for a certain one.

    No, never...

But I do try my hardest to forget about my new 2004 Classic Series 1970's re-issue that's slated for my retirement...It lives in it's factory-box, in a closet at my folks place...

Just yesterday I decided to pull out my Deluxe Nashville Tele that I hadn't so much as looked at since I bought my Strat. I gigged with that Tele for 9 years. I opened the case for the first time in 7 months, and there it was, just as I had left it after its last gig. Dirty, broken high E string, and looking quite sad. I took the strings off, gave the frets a polish, cleaned it up, and restrung it. I took it for a spin and remembered why I loved the guitar in the first place. It was like meeting up with an old friend. So, to show it that I still loved it, I put my Strat in its case, and left the Tele in the guitar stand in the living room.

Only an old MXR Distortion + I got a million years ago. Came across it recently, quite surprised. If I can clean the decayed foam out of it, it should work.
