I'm Monkey, aka Spider, aka GuitarTwonk. I've played in bands since I was 14, originally on bass and now singing and playing lead guitar. Here's a potted history:
- Type this information please:
Manic Monkey ('92 to '94)
Played bass guitar for this grunge band. We were rough but enthusiastic!
Psi-Cosis ('94 to '96)
Bass guitar for this funk reggae metal 3-piece. I got to slap and pop like a true Flea-fanboy!
Kamel ('95 to '96)
Bass again, this time covering classic rock anthems. First and last time I will ever play in a covers band!
PTNBC ('98 to '03)
Bass and backing vox for this sometimes 2- and sometimes 3-piece: punky goodness over drum machine madness, but ultimately dysfunctional.
Flamin' Kermits ('02 to '05)
Formed this band with local guitar legend Johnny Metal Yau. Rhythm Guitar and backing vox for this Northampton-based pop-infused garage rock, punk and new-wave 5-piece. This is where I started songwriting.
First Wave ('05 to '13)
Lead Guitar and backing vox for Leicester-based old-skool punk rock legends Scundy and Stooge. I really cut my teeth here, playing on small to massive stages all over the country and beyond, making some amazing friends in the process.
The Bugs ('06 to '06)
Double-bass for this short-lived jazzy folk trio based in Northampton. Think John Martyn, Nick Drake... Even on bass I was a little out of my musical depth here!
Rebel Station ('14 to Date)
Lead Guitar and vox, taking the style of First Wave and upping the octane just a tad, this time with a distinctive proto-punk leaning. This is the Swindon-based band I formed with ex-Small Things bassist Tommi Defiant. The line-up is completed by Witham (Got Rhythm) on Drums.
