No, for $1600 there should be no imperfections. The new pictures would not be ok on a $200 guitar let alone their flagship. Shame on their QC...
Put me in the Replace camp. Any instrument over a few hundred bucks should not have that type of defect, let alone their flagship at $1600.
I couldn't call the highs on the Distortion muddy at all. Mine were always very bright, but in the way you usually want in a pickup such as this.
