am home in foggy and cool seaside Manila CA, enjoying the reunification of our quintet. Laura (true love) Stringer (orange tabby and best bud) Grenadine (small black tuxedo and a darling) and Mai (putative wolf in Husky clothing, canine heart thief)

Oh, wow, that is exactly the kind of place I AM looking to retire in. Is it expensive? Are there Redwoods? Away from the heatwave and close to the marine layer? I am dead serious. I have been looking at Arcadia. But only on the net as a place to retire.

Manila is the only beach town in CA i can afford. Its on the peninsula between humboldt bay and the ocean beach houses, my rent is $500/month - sure the occasional hash or meth lab explodes but since leagalization that's sort of died down... i can hear the ocean from bed. the bathtub so far hasnt fallen through the floor onto the laundry room below, but it does remain a possibility. so basically, pretty nice.

well Manila is pretty ratty... and tsunamis too in a local tsunami prodicing earhtquake woud be pretty frightening dus to the distacne we are from high ground... we basically run to the highest dune... the rest of Humboldt isnt priced like it is here, you may know more about real estate in Arcata than I do... so far during the heatvwaves, 15 minutes in from the coast is a burning hell.

I imagine it is. It's like how it is in my town. On the cast, where it is sweltering a mile and a half inland. I checked it out and Arcata and Eureka are pretty pricey. But I could not find anything in Manila. With a population of around 800. It seems that open places there are few and scarce. But I DO have time on my side. When this leg is sorted out, I will come up there and have a look.

Yeah. I will put my mental tendrils out and focus my energy to hopefully land in just the right spot.
        Enjoy the day. Bud. Roger
