Hi friends - thanks for your messages of concern. I know I've been away for a long time. Recently experienced a number of life transitions (moving, getting a dog, etc). Haven't had time or energy to devote to playing (and everything related to it like visiting this forum has been pushed aside as well). I'm just now getting back into playing...trying to get back in the loop. Thanks for all your messages. Maybe I'll post in a thread or something sometime soon.
Hey Laura, thanks for the heads-up on the UG thing. Hate to leave it just lying there...oh well, had to do that with a tumblr acct. Don't know what I was thinking.
Sounds like you got a good guy there. Every musician needs a music room. Anyone that understands that is okeydoke by me. Hope that arrangement (living together) works out for you guys. Nothin like togetherness.
I gotta get some new, and I'm talkin new, stuff to put on the SoundCloud site. Except for the newer stuff I've done, the rest of the myspace things are so badly mixed I get embarrassed listening to them.
I think I'm going to redo 'Anthem' cuz I like that one a lot but the drums are way loud and the rhythm guitar track is almost unheard. Sheesh. I hope I learned something between then and now.
Cheers,
Randy
Hi Strat-O-Lady
Thank you VERY much for your friends request - that's an honour, I of course accept with great pride.
you got quite an interesting job yourself (well not that mine is) even though working two evenings a week can be a tough one.
I guess the current financial crisis has added a new dimension to your job. That damn crisis
I'm watching the news right now, they're discussing Gingrich/Romney and just had a feature about Floridas current situation - wow that's quite bad .... You are needed in this world mrs/miss Lady
Thanks again, and please drop by whenever you may like to
Thanks for your nice reply ..... I work with kids, school and after school. Nice job, bad wages
I got a thread in sidewinders "I had a very nice day at work today" if you wanna read it - don't feel obligated to do it
W. Center St. is where I'm at in the ancient old brick house back in. So nice back there til recently. Love the area and it is cool to see locals on-line like this K&S are probably sick of me by now, too. Since I started playing again in March I've been in and out with unanswerable questions (see the silver fender logo thread in the squier section). Knoebels got hit hard in September with another flood. But..... open again as usual!
Where ya at now? I'm originally from up by Scranton.
I'm glad to hear you're happy with the String Cleaner. Those suckers work and it will last for years with proper use. Once up and down, twice if you're anal about it like me, and the strings are fresh almost like right out of the package. Use it every time you play and body oils and acid won't goober up the strings like they would get otherwise.
Here's one more string tip...Snake Oil Brand guitar and bass strings. I have them on my electrics and acoustic. His vintage guitar strings give you just that...vintage tone. And these strings can last a couple of years with proper cleaning which you have covered with the String Cleaner. SOB strings get better with age. He also offers a modern style if vintage isn't your thing. They are designed by Dean Farley who wrote the book on guitar string manufacturing back in the 80's. Google him to learn more about him.
He's a smart feller as opposed to a fart smeller. Sorry, I can never resist.
Snake Oil Brand strings and your tone will improve.
After listening some more to your tracks I thought I might suggest your getting a Tele. Not for any reason other than more single-coil fun. More sounds that are like a Strat but not.
Anyway, I'm joining the Ultimate Guitar site. The myspace site is...weird. Every time I go back to it I have to relearn how to navigate the site. The last time it took forever. I just couldn't tell where to go to edit my songs or even my profile. Not since 09 have I been able to change my profile info. I can get into the edit page but after I make changes and hit save it doesn't do anything. I'm still 58 on myspace and I'm about to turn 60 next month.
Like I said...weird.
I need someplace to park my tunes. How does UG work for you? Is there a limit to how many and length of tune? I'll probably find out soon enough but if ya got any skinny for me I'd appreciate it.
Later,
Randy
hi there. I saw on your profile on UG that you have a song named "This Town". a friend of mine in Austin, Texas also has a song by that name. his name is Joe Richardson. here's his website - Untitled . it's on his myspace page.
