Naturally, my next ? is; trem cover on or off?

I almost immediately take the back plate off upon getting a new (to me) guitar. It goes in a sandwich bag with the screws and usually the wiggle stick too. I’m constantly tweaking my guitars (and probably shouldn’t be), but that’s 6 less screws to take out if I do something via the back

That’s super cool to know - thanks for sharing, I’ll definitely keep that in mind.I really dig the black/tortoise and rosewood look btw - nicely done!

Thanks Lonn! I couldn’t agree more - from what I can tell, this was a great era/run for the MIM line - huge value for the amount of guitar that you get. Ironically enough, I also have a MIJ partscaster/tele (Nashville format with the relief carve and SSS) - such a sweet guitar, the neck is...

Thanks so much - my first thought was “I don’t need another black strat” but everything else was appealing to me on this one (particularly the Duncan ssl5) - it’s been great, can’t wait to get home tonight and play it some more!!

Thanks so much - it’s a lot of fun so far, I’m looking forward to putting some time in and getting a better feel for all of its nuances, etc.

So I said goodbye to the MIM HH Floyd Rose blacktop today - it was a lot of fun while it lasted, but it got less and less playing time over the years and I needed to get back to an SSS strat (and non Floyd trem). I was on the hunt for something with a maple fretboard and wound up trading my...

Gas’ing bad for a new strat

That’s good to hear - I have a ‘95 MIM strat special (hss) that I love, and have heard that the MIMs from 96-05 had some of the best examples roll off of the line, particularly the necks. I’ll see what this one feels like, I’m pretty excited

Gas’ing bad for a new strat

Thanks for the input - be been checking prices on reverb and even eBay and it looks like they are pretty close price wise. Granted this strat isn’t 100% original, but since he’s throwing in an amp and I just don’t play the blacktop ever, I’m leaning towards doing it - I think that the Floyd...

Go ahead. Bash me all you want…

I don’t mind the green - probably not my first choice in color, but I do like some of the more rare options out there. If the neck feels good, I’d rock it for sure

    New "Case Queen" Day

Gorgeous strat - love the fiesta red, I’d leave it as is - play it in good health!

Gas’ing bad for a new strat

Yeah - I think it’s a vt15 in really good shape. I typically play through Marshall, Orange or my little apogee jam plus (we have young kids that are not great sleepers), but Vox has always been on my short list

Thanks, and I’m not sure about the transition logo - that’s an interesting question, I’ll have to look in to it.

Humbucker Equipped and Single Coil Strats?

i have an sss, hss and an HH strat (yes, I have a problem) and have to say each has its place. If it’s true strat tone you seek, it’s hard to argue with the sss (I like the selector to be between the neck and mid pickups for optimal “quack”), but the hss is second to none in my eyes when it...
