You all missed why, they were looking for more than 10 pages on Strat Talk, and were successful. The fact that it lightened up the weight of the guitar was a secondary benefit.
I have an original directional Fender Coily cord, and then I purchased the shorter more tightly wound one that was standard with Eric Johnson strats.
They have a place, and I do notice they do cut a little high end brittleness.
Just so you know I have searched the web and found a 2008 Catalog and here is the page showing THIN SKIN for the 57 and thin for 62, So apparently Fender did not know either.
Not misleading.. perhaps misunderstood.
So I have both a 62 hotrod and several and at one time 1 of each model, in each color made of the teles and the strats. In fact I had 5 of the 1 of 46 runs for both the tele and the strat.
That said I have no idea if there is poly under the Hot Rod...
From what I read the 12-52 is about right but they had a wound third so thus the raised pole on the G string.
In addition I read that Nickel was the majority of old strings.
I don't think OSHA will allow shirtless men and streetwear women to work in the factory without proper safety gear. No spray booths and band saws without hand protection.
Generally when I am looking for the opinion of those who know, I disregard those in a forum directly focused upon the item at hand. In fact I look to random people who as far as I know have absolutely no knowledge about guitars. In fact I would trust them implicitly and ask their advice solely...
