    I fried my TS9. Help!

Here, please have a look at this circuit and explanation for a very detailed and fairly clear explanation of how that part of this circuit works. https://components101.com/articles/designing-an-overvoltage-protection-circuit-using-zener-diodes

    I fried my TS9. Help!

One more thing: you can see that when reverse polarity voltage is applied to that circuit that the + side of the power supply is connected to the anode of that diode and the negative side of the power supply is connected to the cathode, yes? Now, grab a handful of diodes and a 9v battery...

    I fried my TS9. Help!

Hi. There’sa lot that’s just not right in here. If you supply reverse polarity voltage to that circuit, you forward bias that diode which again, has nothing to limit current in series with it. The diode WILL burn up almost immediately. Next, full reverse polarity voltage will be applied across...

    I fried my TS9. Help!

Right, that’s what I said. It will fail open. Once that happens, and it happens almost immediately, it provides zero protection to the downstream components. Why would they even bother to install a diode for protection when it would immediately fail and provide zero protection. For that diode...

    I fried my TS9. Help!

How does it do that? With no current limiting resistor, it will immediately fail with an open joint and will provide zero protection downstream.

    I fried my TS9. Help!

Sure. Simply stated, a Zener diode has a reverse bias Zener voltage where it will shunt current as necessary to maintain its designed Zener voltage. In this circuit, 9v. In other words, the diode acts normally until a voltage in excess of its Zener voltage is applied. If you were to connect, for...

    I fried my TS9. Help!

Disagree. Without a current limiting resistor, the diode will always fail open and reverse polarity voltage will always be applied to components downstream of D8. You’d be hard pressed to design a worse protection circuit.

That diode is a Zener. It functions as a voltage regulator. Look up the specs. W03C There would be no reason to use a Zener if not for voltage regulation.

    I fried my TS9. Help!

While not drawn as such in the diagram several posts back, the diode in question is a Zener diode. It functions as the cheapest possible 9v regulator. If you applied reverse polarity voltage across it, with nothing to limit its current (which is true as drawn), it would be fried. If you applied...

I’ve had Subway. Nothing could surprise me less than to learn that a baker’s foot is involved.

Subway Monthly Coupons: What Kind of Deal is This ?

A triple is $25 so each man owes $8.33333333333 ($25/3). Of the overpayment, each man was due $5/3 = $1.667 The bellhop got $2. (3*$8.33333) + (3*$1.66667) = $30. The math, as always, checks out.

Would You Buy A Laptop From Amazon?

Amazon has a trust problem when it comes to expensive items. One, they are awash with counterfeit items. Two, B-stock items are not always described as b-stock and unscrupulous vendors sell b-stock at full price or at a discount that seems great, but not as good as you would normally get for...

I’m with you 100%. They weren’t good when they were the “best available” because they were the only thing available. Any of the little Vox Mini amps or the little Roland cubes will blow them away. Then add in the Mini Katana, the Flys, etc and you really have some great choices. There’s also the...

    Our big gas problem

I remember those big gas commercials. As it turns out though, it didn’t really solve k-marts big gas problems. They had too much big gas debt and not enough big gas income. In the end, people took the big gas shopping needs to other big gas retailers. It was a big gas bust for k-mart.

    dealer treating me like crap?

While this is certainly true about our expectations, I’d still think I could package and ship a product to a paying customer in well under a week. A business that can’t doesn’t really seem interested in continuing to be a going concern.

A general complaint and request about taste and tact

In nature, things try to warn you when they’re dangerous. Brightly colored poisonous frogs and snakes, for instance. Put all the bumper stickers on your car that you need to. I’m just gonna be over here in this lane. Waaaay over here.

Can you get Covid by knocking on a door?

For every one of you who wants the bell to be rung, there are ten more with barking dogs and sleeping babies yelling at them when they ring the bell. You can request that they ring the bell or not in the delivery instructions. They’re pretty good about following requests around here.
