How do you solve the string stiffness feel?

The trick is to do it 2-3 times a day and then the only one passing out is your accountant. :):thumb:

How do you solve the string stiffness feel?

Its a feel thing and so goddam hard to relate! I hate to do it but I got to say you got to feel this to know it. If I have an otherwise straight neck/regular factory setup I always start by (nowhere near as much as I would a short scale) adding relief. I don't measure this, instead I go solely...

How do you solve the string stiffness feel?

Sorry. Drunk. If a strat: tilt the neck back a little. So it rises at the heel and sits low at the forward. Nothing cray cray. A few degrees. Then get the neck straight ish and back it off a few thousands of a turn at a time until it feels OK in standard. Or. ... Tune it down half a step...

Classic Player 50s and 60s Strats - Comparison to higher end?

You forgot the 70's. But that's OK, so did I and UKOldGit. They are fine. Early ones have bigger necks (in every sense) than the post 2004 (?) ones. As much strat as anyone will ever need. I still play my 1999 as my #1.

    Change the neck angle.

    Insane Private Collection Upstairs

Let's be honest, if you didn't get rich in the 00's you were asleep at the wheel. Easy credit, boom tech stocks, 0% down mortgages.. I was asleep at the wheel.

    Saddle alignment

If its intonated its intonated. There may be reasons why they end up where they end up, but the goal is to intonate. If you can do that .. you could play a broom handle.

My first and maybe the only tele, which one to get?

Ah Teles. I came to those quite late in life. I was at a luthier friend of mine in NortAAAAMpton town and he said, "Here, try this!" I said, yeah, OK. Neck's like a freaking baseball bat and I have little choir boy hands. He was South African as it happens.. He hands me another one. A "sorted"...

What do use to weigh you guitars?

I'm sure I had this very question in an 8th grade exam. It was even multiple choice.. One of the answers was "pay to have someone else do it" iirc.

    Anyone else hate plumbing?

I ****ing love plumbing. No really. I mean the perfect symmetry. The little thing you cut the pipe with - the way it feels like its not doing anything then *poof* perfectly cut pipe. The soldering. JOINING THINGS TOGETHER WITH A BLOW TORCH. I mean. Come on. That's probably top 10 amazing...

Averaging 6 junk calls a day. How about You?

I have a cunning strategy. So cunning in fact it could be considered at least as cunning as a fox. With a degree in cunning. From Oxford University. I don't give every random scrote my phone number. Its worked well for 20 years or so now..

    Interesting, from Joyo.

I love how in Asia fake-spray-chrome plating random parts is considered sophisticated and cool.

New Twin Reverb production model (silver)

They are alright. Not bad. I wouldn't pay RRP for a new one though. Get a used one. The biggest complaint I hear, well, feedback, not complaint, is that they don't sound "warm" or "3d" like the old ones do. That's fixable. ;) There's no substitute for 50 year old iron but the new stuff isn't bad...

"Blackfacing" a silverface twin reverb: don't bother imho

Super cool! I've been experimenting with OD and distortion pedals and none of the ones I have sound anything like real tube OD through this amp (set clean). I don't use V1 at all so I'm definitely sold on the "lead" channel mods now .. ! I like the idea of chopping out the bright caps and use...

"Blackfacing" a silverface twin reverb: don't bother imho

I'd sure love to have a rummage in your parts drawer, sir! Completely unintentionally I think I got pretty close with this 73 refurb. Close enough to punch the air every time I turn it on and play something that sounds *exactly* like the record. Sadly it doesn't overdrive at all like an...

What amp do you recommend for Fender guitars?

See I can relate .. but .. I'm the fella who'll bunk off work and fly drive without a change of clothes if the price is right. :D

"Blackfacing" a silverface twin reverb: don't bother imho

Wow! First hand experience! I have been on the look out for a MM HD130 for a while.. those square back Eminence made alnico speakers are really great. They do come up from time to time but they're always just a bit too rich for me. Or they are in Poland or something (sigh). Can't really go wrong...

    10-46 D'Addario EXL110. No finer guitar string.

Have any of you experienced “Stratitis” on HSH guitar?

I don't know tbh. It depends what series they are in that model. Inifinty iirc? Different series, different types of magnet. The higher end ones are A5 apparently. No biggie really if you like the sound. So that now looks more or less the same as Vai's own setup.. Hehe. I've never had a JEM...

Have any of you experienced “Stratitis” on HSH guitar?

Are those buckers ceramic? They have significantly stronger magnets than regular alnico. Could be the issue. Also are those a reasonably fresh set of strings? It gets worse with string fatigue. :( I know this because the strings on my strat are approaching two years old hehe. Looking at how Vai...

    Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown.

He's really a top drawer guitar player. :thumb: The top comment on his AO 50's video for ages (until Fender nuked it) was "Damn that chick can play!"

Have any of you experienced “Stratitis” on HSH guitar?

Your neck is about right. Your middle is way too low. Your bridge is too high. FWIW I have a bit of warble on my strat. I don't really care tbh. It doesn't come through in a mix unless its REALLY acute and it shouldn't ever be if you have a halfway standard setup. That a Gem? Designed to be...

Does the guitar body affect the sound much?

Couldn't agree more chap. The old joke about a Fender made in Mexico by Mexicans or a Fender made 40 miles up the road in California by Mexicans applies. Do you want a guitar made on a CNC machine by a CNC machine or a guitar made on a CNC machine by a CNC machine? The poor quality of Asian...

For a BF? Can you buy them all? I'll rent a shipping container.
