Unexpected new "S" type body....now what????

I meant that the neck I am using was taken off of a brand new, Squire CV-60's so it has the standard 4-hole screw pattern for attachment to a fender-style body. When I tried to mount it to the "replacement body" that I am using, the screws would not match up or enter the neck holes. So I started...

Strat was run over by a car

I used to hear the phrase "you can throw a Telecaster out on the road, have a dump truck run over it, and it would still be in tune". I guess that applies to Strats as well? But I would sure try to salvage this body as it looks kind of cool!

    Neck to body fit

Yeah, I really like this body because of its roasted ash, amber tinted construction. But, I also have the option of plugging and redrilling the neck holes to match the "offending " body to neck holes. It might be easier...I've done lots of those.

    Neck to body fit

Sheesh, I finally found the problem and am almost too embarrassed to admit it. I went back today and again compared the dimensions on this body with those taken directly from a Fender Strat body drawing. The first two neck screw holes in the body pocket are supposed to be .625" from the bottom...

    Neck to body fit

Everything I measure on both the neck heel and body pocket seems correct, but obviously something is just not right. I think I will take another of my Strat guitars apart and try the neck from that one on this body. It's like there are multiple dimensions that may be off on this body or neck and...

    Neck to body fit

U appreciate the interest. I will follow up with more details tomorrow. But, the neck in question is a brand new, loaded CV-60"s that was removed from a brand new guitar. The body is a "replacement" Strat body in roasted ash with amber tinted clear finish "conforming to all Fender Strat...

    Neck to body fit

After building a lot of Strats, I should know this but apparently don't. Will a new Squier CV-60's neck fit a standard Fender neck pocket? I'm finding that it physically fits, but it makes the scale length too long....weird as all dimensions seem OK per Fender drawings that I have checked...

Unexpected new "S" type body....now what????

I've not worked on this project for quite a while due to "throwing my back out"...ouch! Anyway, my goal is to use this body together with a Squier CV-60's neck and other parts that I have on hand to build a "natural/Amber" finish guitar. The body is a low cost, replacement- type that conforms to...

Unexpected new "S" type body....now what????

OK, you wizards, how about this rather strange looking pickguard? (I've just got too many choices). Also notice my rapid progress on this "build"...I actually got the strap buttons installed! "build" is

Yeah, I learned that term during my final year of college!

Unexpected new "S" type body....now what????

I've already done my purple builds (2 strats & 1 Tele, which is why I have this pickguard available...I never used it). I have about 12 other PG's to choose from, so this is not a done deal. But i really am going to "break the rules" with this build! (LOL). Experimentation continues.

Unexpected new "S" type body....now what????

How's this for a "wild" pickguard choice? I actually like it, but I have a bunch of others to try. This is not going to be your "cookie-cutter' build.

Unexpected new "S" type body....now what????

I thought I had one of those "light weight" scales around here somewhere, but it has disappeared! Hum? Anyway, I will find some way to get a weight on this thing...I imagine that it is right in there with most any Ash, Strat-style body, but it really feels fairly light to me! Also, looking at...

Unexpected new "S" type body....now what????

I've got a ton of pickguards laying around, all the way from white or black and everything in between. I even have a colorful paisley guard that could be in the running. It'll be an "eyeball" test.

Unexpected new "S" type body....now what????

I don't have a "low weight scale" around, but it feels quite light to me, especially for ash. I'll get an actual weight tommorow.

Yup, $139 plus shipping. I really cannot find any faults with the thing, either!

Unexpected new "S" type body....now what????

I've always wanted a strat-type guitar with a dark, natural, woodgrain finsh! Well, I got a note from Stratosphere that they are now selling low-cost, roasted ash, S type bodies in several different finishes. So I had a look and bingo, I bought the one with an amber-tinted, clearcoat finish with...

Home players - how many do you have?

Wow, I guess it's OK to join in now that I've learned that there are others with more guitars than me? I currently have 35 that cover a lot of brands and price points. Lot's of Strats, Teles, PRS, Reverend, Ernie Ball, Ibanez. Guild, and others. I also "build" a lot of Partscasters, some of...

    Gotta stay off of Reverb!!

This new CV-60's arrived yesterday, and I couldn't be more pleased. First of all, a "shoutout" to CME. This thing arrived TRIPLE boxed and packed like they were shipping the Mona Lisa!! Very nice. The guitar is flawless and took very little set-up to get it in near perfect playing condition. All...

    Gotta stay off of Reverb!!

Here's a question about this CV-60 that I should know the answer to after all of the guitars I have built, but don't! Will the pickguard from a MIM or MIA Strat fit this Squier correctly? I had planned to use one of the pickguards in my "stash" on this guitar, but some folks are telling me it...
