Not a bad amp at all for the $$$. I picked up the “Kentucky” red version for $450 and it’s a good standby for sure. Good cleans, gnarly dirt too. I pulled the very shrill Eminence Screamin Eagle out of it and put a Celestion creamback in it … sounds good for a cheap-ish tube amp.
I had one of those once, never could get it to sound decent. I put an eminence 15 in it, tone control, etc. just nothing “lush” going on there! I traded it to a guy on CL for. Fender Bassbreaker and then sold that to get my money back out of the Excelsior. A few weeks later the same Excelsior...
I will try to ignore your condescension to simply say I contacted Sweetwater first. They’ve gotten back to me, their written policy is that the buyer pays all shipping. I have a call with their service guy on Monday.
Fender warranty service says “take it to Guitar Center” which would seem a...
I've seen listings in the past on Fender's website showing multitudes of warranty centers (big box and mom & pop) ... so when this happened, I sought Fender warranty centers on Fender's site again, but all that was listed were big box stores. Curious, I walked into a mom & pop shop in...
I'm seeking advice on handling an issue with a brand new Strat Ultra HSS I bought from Sweetwater. Please don't just type "return it" - I'm outside the return time window. Also, I have never opened the hood on the guitar, whatever is going on inside of it is likely an inherent problem - not...
I tried a Deluxe Tonemaster for 3-4 months, did not like the extreme reverb or the tinny sound ... I know some love them and swear by them, but to my ear it wasn't really a tube amp replacement. I know this is highly subjective, though.
This ain't no Blues Jr., I can swear to that! Just got my VSA Tweed 15 from Humbucker Music today. I am truly amazed. The growl, the depth, the power ... the STOKED!
Never was sure who plays the solo on Rikki Don’t Lose That Number. My favorite solo ever - can’t imagine a single note being different.

A few twists of the boost and tone knobs is all it takes to figure out. Isn’t experimentation at least half of the fun?

Hey folks, I was just messing around with my new Deluxe Reverb Tone Master ... I know a lot of people are on the fence on this technology ... so this is just a bunch of messy guitar-doodle through various pedals, clean, bluesy, dirty, etc .. so you can hear various tones.
I'm using a Custom...
I got the burst at $1415 brand spanking new. I will admit it is a bit of an odd bird, but it definitely is “warmer” and “woodier” sounding than a solid body EJ.
The hollowness (is that a word?) is not just in the upper part around the F hole, the upper and lower horns are both hollow too...
No argument regarding EJ’s name recognition, but the EJ Strat has been heralded for many years as the best non-Custom Shop available. While the market is saturated, I would never envision Fender discontinuing the solid body EJ.
However, the Thinline was a variant, of course, and I just wonder...
An online retailer had them marked down - new, not returns or refurbs - to $1415 (from $1999) a few weeks ago (I got one, love it) and now Fender is advertising them marked down from $1999, to $1699.
I wonder if there is a redesign on the way or if the line is tanking. Great guitar ...
it’s just my opinion, but I just can’t imagine the market improving ... they pump out so many guitars and considering the lack of scarcity of maple, alder, ash (I.e., not rosewood, ebony, other dark tropical woods), the world is awash in Strats, Teles, etc. How they sell them all is a mystery to...
