Advice on '96 Am Std Strat (Neck)

Only you can answer that opening question. I had a 2005 Standard which I really liked that had the opposite problem to yours - the neck was just a little too straight and I could not add the relief I wanted, with the truss at the end of its adjustment. I tried to live with it for a while but it...

    JV squier

Yes that's overpriced but someone might go for it... You'll see there's another listed for £800 or best offer, which is more realistic. I bought one a few weeks ago, also a 1983 but rosewood board, for 750. They are nice Strats.

What colour does Fender use for aged/vintage white plastics on Oly white CS/American Original Strats?

    OK thanks again everyone, I bought the Pure Vintage set and they are perfect, just what I wanted. Subtle cream but with a hint of mint that looks just fine with a mint guard. Here's the finished guitar;

Aha another person confounded by this! :-) Thanks for pic, what colour plastics on the light blue Strat?

What colour does Fender use for aged/vintage white plastics on Oly white CS/American Original Strats?

Ah yes, the same issue! Thanks for the link, in your thread about 3 posts down someone has posted a picture of white vs Pure Vintage plastics on a white piece of paper, that's a very useful comparison. Looks like Pure Vintage is what I need... and where did you buy yours from?

What colour does Fender use for aged/vintage white plastics on Oly white CS/American Original Strats?

Wow, the grain on that Strat! Is that your own build? Nice subtle mint guard too, is that a Fender? Some of them are very green but that one isn't.

What colour does Fender use for aged/vintage white plastics on Oly white CS/American Original Strats?

I am sorting a build in Olympic white, dark rosewood neck, vintage mint (probably) pickguard. The thing I can't get my head round is the colour of knobs & PU covers. So this is is the colour (pickups and knobs) I'm after, it matches very nicely with Olympic white, kind of a milky colour...

    JV Tex MEX?

What you missed is that this thread is nothing to do with MIJ JV Strats, its about the Jimmy Vaughan Strat

    Practical question about the Performer

Fret size. Jumbo on the Performer, narrow tall on the pro.

    NGD - 1983 JV Squier Strat ('62 )

Ok some more pics, nice to see no buckle rash on the back (its virtually unmarked) and also no-one sanded the finish off the neck (hooray!) Lovely rosewood board on it. Saddles all worked when I set it up so no corrosion thankfully. Apart for the switch I mentioned, wiring looks original and...

    NGD - 1983 JV Squier Strat ('62 )

I don't often do the NGD thing but I've had an eye out for one of these for while, and got it for a good price by today's UK prices. All original except for the 3 way switch swapped out for a 5 way, which is fine by me. Good condition for its age with minimal fretwear, only slightly annoying...

Thoughts/current value of this 83 JV Squier

Well thats an interesting suggestion, yes I have seen a few of these about selling in the £4-500 range, and I had dismissed them as being inferior guitars (there seems to be a view that quality goes from Springy Sound>Goldstar>Silver Star) yet a quick bit of research casts doubt on that...

Thoughts/current value of this 83 JV Squier

Re the JV I see them on Ebay, Reverb and Facebook usually for £900+, £750 was the best I have seen for a long while. Where are you seeing better condition ones at this kind of price? And yes I'm very open to the Tokai suggestion, but again I am not seeing much around that's in good condition...

Thoughts/current value of this 83 JV Squier

Funnily enough, I am also on the look out for a reasonably priced Tokai of the same era. :-) Number of reasons really - build quality, reputation, I prefer older/played in guitars to shiny new ones...

Thoughts/current value of this 83 JV Squier

Well in the time it took me to post this the seller has withdrawn, as the guitar he was hoping to buy is no longer available (and was the only reason he was letting the JV go). :(

Thoughts/current value of this 83 JV Squier

Looking at buying this, after haggling seller will take £750. Seller says the pickup switch has been changed but all else is original. Detailed pics, not sure what those holes in the headstock would be caused by?

    Upgrade to American Performer

I have one like that, I also changed the pickups - for Tonerider City Limits. I went for a loaded pickguard and so lost the fancy extra pickup combo pull push switch, but TBH didnt use it anyway and didn't like the way the control knob stuck out.

    Fender Roadhouse Deluxe

Sean is a great player, he uses a Line 6 Helix amp sim, check out his channel for a full explanation video on his tone if you want to see how exactly how he gets it. However, the THRs are great little amps, and I can get very close to that sound. Here's my cover of SRV's Lenny using the...
