    Fender American Original '60s Finish

This is the path I have taken. Great playing and sounding strat. The finish also seems flat as well. So I wonder if its something funny with how the finish cured. It's a bit wild, but either way, one hell of a strat and the best I have personally played. Cheers!

    Fender American Original '60s Finish

I agree. My Gibson nitro is fantastic. Feels hard and looks great. I've just never seen one looks so wavy like mine. Very strange effect for sure. It's a great guitar, but has it quirks I am trying to get over.

Did you keep these strats or did you exchange them or return them? Just curious. It just seems like the "perfect" guitars are the exceptions. I can visualize what you are saying though. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

    Fender American Original '60s Finish

In terms if fret work, tone/sound, neck pocket, and overall setup - A+. Frets are immaculate and there are no high or low spots. The only things that bother me about the guitar are purely cosmetic. I haven't returned the guitar because of this. A good guitar is a good guitar regardless if some...

    Fender American Original '60s Finish

The guitar plays perfectly and sounds fantastic, so I settled and kept it. They nailed the fret work and setup on it, so that's most important. :)

    Fender American Original '60s Finish

Thanks for the post. It does sound and play well. I'm still kind of processing what I want to do. Definitely some mixed feelings about it, but we'll see what happens.

    Fender American Original '60s Finish

Thanks for the input! I am continuing to think about it. The best part of the guitar is the Rosewood fretboard. One of the nicest wood grains I've ever seen.

    Fender American Original '60s Finish

I agree. 👍 It seems to make the most sense that the imperfection is in the wood, not necessarily the finish. Nothing is bubbled up or anything like that. Just a B stock grade body you could say. 🙂 Thanks for taking a look and for your input!

The window thing makes sense to me, but the fact that you can actually feel this kind of tosses that out the window.

    Fender American Original '60s Finish

If you look closely from this angle, just straight light in the room, you'll notice the wavy look to it. This is what I am referring to. On top of that, you can actually feel it.

    Fender American Original '60s Finish

If you run your finger across it, you will feel your finger go up and down in the ripples or the wavy spots.

    Fender American Original '60s Finish

This is exactly what I am talking about. If you look at the guitar at an angle in the light you will see ripples across the top of the guitar like this. I have owned many strats, but never seen anything like this. If you run your finger across it you will feel your finger go up and down the...

    Fender American Original '60s Finish

There's no movement in the finish at all. You can push anywhere on the guitar and everything is tight. It's almost as if the body was sanded poorly and then they finished it this way.

    Fender American Original '60s Finish

Pretty much my exact thoughts and feelings about it. Cheers! 👍

    Fender American Original '60s Finish

Hi All, Just wanted to see if anyone has ever seen anything like this or if you own a Stratocaster that has this. I have owned a few and never seen this before. If you look at the attached photo, you'll notice that the top of the guitar is very wavy. If you run your finger across it you can...

Fender Strat QC ? American Original series

Your American Original is in much better condition than mine is new. Straight from Fender: 3 dents in the neck, two sunken in paint spots above the neck plate, and the top is wavy and not flat. For a $2100 guitar, it is trash QC. If you read recent articles, about half of their guitars need to...

what year were the best mexican strats made

I think there have been some amazing improvements to the MIM Strats with the new Player Series. Those are an absolute bargain and have a lot more similarities to the MIA Standards (22 frets, alnico pickups, 2 post/pin bridge, etc.)
