Just something I've learned over time living where the indoor humidity can be in single digits at times.
The CV Jazz Bass I bought in Sept. came with a ton of fret sprout and some wicked sharp fret ends. I knocked those back a bit and polished the frets and fret ends to a shine. I parked the...
FWIW many times the fret sprout issue can be dealt with simply by humidifying the instrument for several days.
That may not resolve the entire issue but it may save time since the ends may only require knocking down the sharper ended as opposed to filing them back a good way. Just a thought to...
Fender dumped a whole of Squier inventory at 40%-50% off around labor day. We're seeing other Fender product like that Nashville offered at 40% off by dealers.
G&L is offering another 15% discount off their already discounted "store" prices. That's 40% off retail. So yeah, it's happening.
Seems like to me as well. The glut of used and new gear on the market has hit just as it was predicted it would. Hard to sell used gear when the manufacturers are giving such huge discounts on their overstocks.
I understand all of that and yet IME the difference in volume to the neighbors between my 5w and 15w tube amps pushed into natural break up is marginal at best.
Either could be easily heard up and down the hallway and at a certain level through the walls. The only actual difference was the 15w...
No, but CirroStratus does so I suggested that he might even create his own just as I once did. The most difficult part was getting the top routed. Cost me all of $35.
Session players in Nashville were the guys who came up with adding a middle pickup to their Teles so they could show up for a...
Congrats to the recovered, those in recovery, and the abstainers. It's been a little over 12 years for me and I don't miss it either. I had a half glass of wine at dinner to toast with and caught a mild buzz from just that.
The ironic thing to me is with as much as I used to hate actually...
If there weren't already dozens of others doing it I'd set up a shop to produce nothing but Tele style guitars in quantity. They're really very simple and cheap to build.
Slap body, minimalist headstock, readily available stamped out bridges w/brass saddles, two pickups, and simple electronics...
If you do you can always create your own Nashville Tele by adding the middle pickup and doing some rewiring.
It's unlikely the $99 Tele has a swimming pool route already so you'd nee to route the body for a middle pickup like I once did with a '95 Tele. I had a local cabinet maker do that for...
Gotcha. I guess whether or not Fender will ever offer to sell new ones at 40% off MSRP again depends on how well this sale went and how many units are still left.
I picked up a Squier CV '60s Jazz Bass for 50% off MSRP thinking they'd never make an offer like that again but then I never...
Starting with the #2 and #4 position the "quack" it's not as pronounced as in a Strat due to it's positioning and that itself varies. IIRC the US models have it in a slightly different spot a bit more forward than the MIM models but that can be adjusted by using different pickguards.
I've had both experiences and while some tube amps just don't sound good at low volume there are a few that do. My 15w Egnater Tweaker is one that does.
It has a master volume I can use to limit the output while cranking the gain but even that won't give me the kind of power tube saturation a...
They're included at no extra charge. Their use is completely optional so what's the big deal. Cars used to have cigarette lighters too but if you didn't smoke you never used it either. Came with the car regardless and I never saw that as an issue to debate. 🤔
