There are people here far more knowledgeable than me, but I'm pretty sure there would be markings and dates if it were a Fender guitar. Every MIJ Fender I've seen, either in person, or in online pics, had dates and other marks in the pocket and on the neck.

Taking the neck off will give you some more information that will help identify it. Posting pics of every marking in the neck pocket and on the end of the neck will help those here identify it.
