    Go Back in Time

I wish I'd started younger. I was 13 and playing Beatles tunes. I don't regret that but jazz and classical demand an earlier start. Imo anyway. I was 30 when I got a clue and made a lot of progress but still...

    JAZZMASTERS FENDERS VS CV'S

Well, I'm comparing memories almost 40 yrs old so cut me some slack :D But I respect your opinion. Now I just hope to find these at my GC someday. They have a J Mascis model but I can't say how that compares either.;)

    JAZZMASTERS FENDERS VS CV'S

My whole experience with Jazzmasters is from borrowing one from a friend of mine back in the early 80s. His dads so it was probably a 60s. Ten yrs before I had a reverse Firebird with soapbars and I thought the Jazzmaster sounded similar. I know it kicked the crap outta my amp at the time. I...

    JAZZMASTERS FENDERS VS CV'S

Looking at YouTube for some comparisons but couldn't find one that nailed it down on both. Anyone here play either or both? I'm more interested in sound than neck, finish, weight etc. Squier CVs are usually a good deal but if the P-90s blow then I'd like to know. Thanks

    Who actually listens to SRV?

For me its not the covers its the studio vibe. I play 1 or 2 of Stevies and a couple of BBs but live is where its at for the Blues

Installing a P-90 in the bridge position?

I haven't. Just speculating at this point

Installing a P-90 in the bridge position?

I have an 03 Standard and was wondering what problems I might come up against. Re-routing? Cutting the pickguard? I suspect there may be more. Anyone do this with before?

    J. Mclaughlin Meeting the Spirits in Ann Arbor Mi

Saw John and the crew this past Wednesday. I'd been hoping for a chance to see his 4th Dimension assemble but didn't think it would happen since he hasn't toured in the States for a long time (that I know of). This is the band that really clicked for me. I haven't heard such a cohesive assemble...

    Just, why?

Not sure what you're referring to but the pic is unclear. The cluster on the upper bout is fuzzy but the original had a series of slider switches. Had a friend that owned an early model (pre 65) that looked similar except for the HBs. His had P90s

I'm not looking to buy another guitar but...any thoughts?

    USA Standard vs USA Professional

Congrats on the 2008. Great price. I have a 2010 I bought new and have left it stock. I love everything about it. After playing both a newer Am St with Fat 50s and the Pro I have to say they're both fine guitars but the difference between the two is minimal imo. Both sets of pups sound more...

I'm not looking to buy another guitar but...any thoughts?

Should be way under $200. They're not even 2 brand new. I own a 2003 and it's a fine guitar. Didnt pay $200 back then either

Mods for the mexican standard Stratocaster

I had a 07 CAR\maple that I liked a lot for a number of years. Didnt change anything but then I fell in love with a 2010 Am Standard. Crap. Trade in's a b***h.

Played live for the first time in my life yesterday...

First is the worst. Soon you'll be able to stop flogging yourself for the odd dubbed note or botched vocal. All in a nights work. Suck it up and move on. Good luck with your band. There's nothing more fun. (veteran of 50+ years)

    Special or Standard??

I didn't find a lot outstanding differences between my 2010 Am St and the Professionals I demoed. Sounds more vintage but.... I have played a Special and I own an Am Spec Tele and the pups are huge sounding. More like HBs in some ways. But fit and finish are great on both Strats. Different...
