Gibson vintage 1964 Melody Maker D, sounds better than a Stratocaster?

I haven't made a rigorous comparison with every Strat I own. It's not so much a comparison with any Strat as a comparison with the tone image of my average Strat. Anyway, this MMD had a thick sound the moment I plugged it in, and the harmonic component was rich, which is why I ended up writing...

Gibson vintage 1964 Melody Maker D, sounds better than a Stratocaster?

Why was it colorless? My MMD has very rich overtones and a fat and colorful tone. Is it just individual differences?

Gibson vintage 1964 Melody Maker D, sounds better than a Stratocaster?

I often enjoy playing the blues solo. When playing a single note, this melody maker produces a thick single note that is probably influenced by the fact that the neck is firmly connected to the body with a box joint, both are good quality Honduras mahogany, and the fingerboard is a jet black...

Gibson vintage 1964 Melody Maker D, sounds better than a Stratocaster?

I recently acquired a 1964 Gibson Melody Maker D. As many players have said, the Melody Maker single pickup has a very fat sound, and at the same time, it sounds like a bell with a lot of overtones. This guitar consists of a one-piece Honduras mahogany slab body and a one-piece Honduras...

Why does 2003 Custom Shop Rosewood Telecaster has 5 digit CN serial?

John C, I am always overwhelmed by the depth of your insight. Thank you very much for your logical and convincing opinions.

Why does 2003 Custom Shop Rosewood Telecaster has 5 digit CN serial?

This custom shop one-off order Rosewood Telecaster, made in 2003, is affixed with CN serial. Moreover, it is a 5-digit serial, the numbers are small. Normally, CN serial should be until the 1990s, but this was a one-off, ordered from Japan, Yamano, around 2000-2001, so, was the neckplate of...

Finally got 40th Anniversary Stratocaster MIJ ST54-150AS(1994)

Thank you for your valuable information. So there was only a so-called model number, and the company name of DiMarzio was not included, right? Thank you for the very interesting information.

Finally got 40th Anniversary Stratocaster MIJ ST54-150AS(1994)

Oh, is that so! I would be very happy if you could show me your 40th photo. My 40th weighs 3.85kg. I tried to remove the pickguard yesterday, it was a very rigid one with baked aluminum, and the unit including the pickups and pots was very heavy.

Finally got 40th Anniversary Stratocaster MIJ ST54-150AS(1994)

The bobbin on the underside of the Blue Velvet, ajointly developed by Fender and Dimarzio in 1994, had the company name written in white letters. Is this a common occurrence in Dimarzio? All three pots are CTS, and were produced in 47 weeks in 1993. Dec. of 1994? The soldering process looks...

Finally got 40th Anniversary Stratocaster MIJ ST54-150AS(1994)

Yes, I think so. Fender Japan's Custom Edition team was launched in 1986. It was one year before the custom shop in the United States. The centerpiece of the Custom Edition team is Mr. Makoto Sugimoto, who was at the Corona factory to provide technical assistance when the Custom Shop was launched.

Finally got 40th Anniversary Stratocaster MIJ ST54-150AS(1994)

Thank you. The white baked pickguard has a hardened paint baked on top of hard aluminum and feels cool to the touch. Unlike plastic pickguards, there is no deflection or vibration due to string vibration, so I have heard that they are effective in creating pure sound. After that, it seems that...

Finally got 40th Anniversary Stratocaster MIJ ST54-150AS(1994)

Thank you, John C. Blue Velvet pickup will be my first experience. I heard that the center pickup is back-magnetized. Japan is now in the middle of the night, so in a few hours, I will try to play for the first time with a slightly loud sound. Thank you for your valuable and accurate...

Finally got 40th Anniversary Stratocaster MIJ ST54-150AS(1994)

Anyway, I'm surprised that both these guitars were made by the same guitar maker....... The guitar in front is Greco SA-1200 made in 1980 by the same guitar maker Fujigen, the only Greco semi-acoustic guitar with the legendary Z-DRY (DRY-Z) pickups.
