Had a similar experience back in the late ‘90s.
One time I remember, it was a jam night and there was me, along with the bass player and the drummer from my band, and we had the opportunity to play three songs, one of which we chose was Johnny B. Goode (which I think is one of those standards...
Yeah, didn’t you know?
All that finish they apply (including the sealer) just suffocates the wood.
Manufacturers should be charged with crimes against….. ‘woody things’.
Don’t get me wrong. I never mentioned ‘hate’, which happens to be a very strong word, (something that a lot of people seem to suffer from these days).
It’s just the association with some naff (British slang) 60s instrumental music that I really don’t care for.

And to be more vintage accurate, they should be using a clear lacquer on the necks, and not a tinted one.
The originals from the pre-CBS era didn’t come with tinted necks, so this is less than vintage accurate in my view.

It’s totally relevant. Price points are decided upon by marketing. Marketing create a perception of a product that people buy into.
The more expensive guitars that Fender produce, won’t necessarily have a higher cost of parts and/ or labour. Yes, there’s a difference in labour cost between NA...
And if I had a spare $1,000 I’d be laying it on the table right now and offering it up to anyone that can correctly identify the configuration of 10 random Strats (or Tele’s) in the ‘beat the blindfold’ challenge.
One guitar at a time, 15 seconds to listen, and one attempt at identifying the...
I would agree with this. A few years ago I finished an ash body with Tru-oil but underneath that I used a brown stain to enhance the grain.
Once the stain had dried, the body was then sanded back to leave the stain in the open pores of the wood.
This was something I picked up from a YouTube...
