They go from chimey to aggressive, quite responsive in the upper end.

I measured the resistance of the pickups:
CS '69 should measure 5.8 on neck, middle and bridge.
Oh, and I just realised this:
On the box these used "CS '69"s came in (according to seller, the original box), it says loud and clear:

I recently bought a used Fender strat that came with Custom Shop '69 pickups.
The owner installed the pickups in 2005.
