Thanks! It has the original pg and the 5 way switch in the case. I was curious if that came with it originally or not. This case is an Ameritage with this one.

Sweet! HNGD. I have an Aztec gold w/gold pickguard. Always thinking about changing it to white.

You need to know to put the white pickguard back on!!

With the white it'll be a real stunner. Great find, love that case too.

How does it sound / play?

Haven’t had a chance to play it yet! But I definitely plan on changing the strings and putting the original pg on it

What a beauty! Yes, on going to the white pickguard, and the 5-way switch!

Nice score! I like it with the gold anodized pickguard but I will look nice with the original white one. I would install the 5-way switch; I'm just too used to the in-between sounds.

The OP mentioned this is an Ameritage case; some of their cases have built-in humidifiers, that looks like one of them.

I will eventually put the 5 way in I’m sure! And you are spot on about the case!

All you really need to know is that Aztec Gold is one of the rarest colours in the Fender range, & also one of the nicest. And unlike Shoreline Gold (which is closer to silver.... o_O) it actually is gold.

And although it looks good as it is (surprisingly), I would also replace the original white scratchplate.

    Nice one - enjoy.

Beautiful guitar, enjoy it. My favourite model. I had a gold one once and it was great. Funnily enough I received a 57 AVRI yesterday that i’d bought from eBay. It’s a 2007 and, bizarrely, the neck has a reverse taper. It measures 0.92 at the first fret and 0.89 at the 12th. Tbh I think it’ll have to go.

Has the neck aged to that lovely amber colour over time or did they make them like that?
I recently got the newer AV‘56 and the neck is much lighter but I’ve read that the flash coat nitro goes more amber with age/exposure to light.

In my experience they were particularly amber till the early 2000s when the necks seemed to receive a slightly lighter tint. The late 90s ones i’ve seen have quite a distinctive dark tint.

Blimey, does it wear that much?
I’d not really thought about the nitro wearing on the neck, only getting dinged/worn on the body.
