You are going to ask him about this guitar and how well it plays, right?
I wonder how much of that price reflects the guitar itself and how much the fact it was owned by Eric?
I'm no expert on 1954 Strats, but it's more than 2 to 3 times the price of the ones I've seen up for sale in recent years ($30,000 to $40,000 for ones in excellent condition)...
Well considering other 54 Strats can be had for around $25K +/- $5K typically I would say the seller thinks EJ owning it adds about $75K to the price.
So he is hopeful of finding an Eric Johnson fan who also happens to have pots of gold. I wasn't sure what a '54 was going for these days so it seems he is well wide of the mark!
That same add has been up at least 3 times in the past 18 months always for the same price. It ain't going to sell for that even to an EJ fan.
Yeah, it's all scratched up. Sorry, I will pass.
How about the fact that Eric owned it but at the end of the day wasn't as good a player as his others so he got rid of it?
"Best sounding Strat we've had" says Reverb. I doubt that. If that were true it would still be in Eric's rack at the side of his stage.
I also love "Electronics untouched" (well....except for a re-wound neck pickup) Of course maybe they rewound it without touching it.
Don't get me wrong, I'd sit and stare at it all day every day if I owned it.
Yeah.. but who needs a house. Just think of the cred you'll earn by sitting/sleeping in a shop doorway with a 54 Strat..
Yes that's a fair point.... but isn't the main purpose of a house to keep your collection of guitars and amps warm and dry ????
Eric sold most all of his vintage Strats a few years back. Even the ones that played well.
I added it to my cart for giggles. We should all do the same to mess with the seller.
The price is ridiculous. But the shipping is probably priced right when you consider what it will cost to insure.
Still, at a $100K, you’d think they’d cover that.
Edited to add: just did a quote at UPS and second day air is a bit over $600 at a declared value of $50K which is their max for that service.
Does Eric Johnson live there ?
If it's no longer good enough for EJ, it won't be good enough for me.
Afraid not......last I heard he was living in England........Cliffs of Dover... I think
