I just think it’s absolutely hilarious that some of the language technicians here are commenting on things like punctuation and grammar while simultaneously using emojis. And here, on the Internet, in a forum about guitars, I think emojis are appropriate. Though I also have pet peeves about things like spelling and grammar, I don’t think this is the venue to be ridiculously rigid about them.

To me there’s is a huge difference between writing a novel and conveying technical information.

I have written long articles on subjects such as "Music Theory" where I use quotation marks to emphasize important words or phrases, so it’s not uncommon to find them in practically every other sentence in those threads.

The point is to make the idea as clear as possible, not to me grammatically correct...

Oh, by the way, I also enjoy using the word “irregardless” when “regardless” will do...

...then I’ll wait to see how long it takes before someone calls me out on it...

...t’which I’ll explain that I did it just to see if anyone’s paying attention...

...and I’ll continue to do so...

    ...irregardless...

    Agreed.

And I'm not sure why any would feel that emojis inappropriate?

There are times when it's difficult to write in such a manner that more accurately mirrors the verbal inflection intended so an emoji can often be used to clarify and represent that missing inflection. I see no harm in them.

Spelling, grammar and punctuation. It's become so bad that you often spot grammar and spelling mistakes in NEWS stories from reputable sources. Huge pet peeve of mine. I don't mind if the average person makes mistakes (we all do), but when your job is to write for a living, could you at least read over it before publishing it?

The way you used it was incorrect. Do we have to settle this with a duel?

The quotes and commas rule is just for us in the States. Other English speaking countries do it a different way. Kind of like the Metric system.
