For some reason I hate gold hardware on “working mans” guitars. Otherwise it is nice but probably not one I would buy.

I remember having an early Cunetto based on these, I likes 'em.

1956? You've got to love the condition! Is it yours @GEISHA? I'm guessing it went for more Euros than I've got left from my last trip.

    I'd love Eldon Shamblin's '54...

Very cool. It would be interesting to figure out what kind of gold it is. *If* the paint is original, it might be either a true custom color or the Aztec Gold that Ditzler made from the early '50s. In '56 there wasn't a premade Dupont lacquer that corresponded to any of the later Fender gold colors. AFAIK Shoreline Gold wasn't formulated until 1959.

Plenty of Fender golds, now: Shoreline, Firemist, Aztec, Mystic Aztec, Frost, and Vegas.

Wow man! That finish should be called 'Oxidizationburst'. You can hear and see it in action:

Here it is in the hands of the man himself:

That white round the edge is – I think – one of those plastic protectors Fender used to sell back in the day.

Similar to the original gold top LPs. that there gold is real copper. :p

Rare bird. Best necks in my opinion, those 56’s. The condition is very good for its age. Wonder to which collector it went.

I don't mind gold HW (have 2 with it), but gold on gold is a little too much of a good thing.

All that glitters is not gold.

That would explain the green on the forearm contour and upper bout area.

I love it. I had a Warmoth strat with all gold hardware very similar but a mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard. Nice guitar but the neck wasn't for me...

I like the gold, but not with gold hardware. I don't prefer gold hardware on anything though.
