I have a less than 100% 1962 Stratocaster that needs a re fret. Should I do it before I sell it or let the potential buyer do it so they can select the size they want. If I do or have it done, I want it as close to original as possible.
When I asked about painting this same guitar on this forum, the majority suggested letting the buyer do it as my color choice may not be theirs. So I'm thinking maybe the re-fret would be the same.

I would try to sell it as is, since everybody wants as original as possible, and somebody might want different size wire, or material, than what was originally on it.

Sell it as is. The newer buyer should be able to make the decision, not the seller.

Yep, if you're going to sell it, don't modify it beyond what's been done already.

Re-fretting it first is the worst possible option if you're selling it.

If you want to sell the guitar why would you spend more money on it?

Sell it as-is! A re-fret --just for the heck of it-- would be a HUGE opportunity for something to get F-d up that could significantly affect your asking price.

Thanks Bazz Jass, posting the 2 year old links. I was asleep. Yes this is the same guitar and I began working on it and had to put it away again. I have had 3 surgeries since I began. I will finish, soon I hope. I will find my pics of the frets and post them for those that want to see.
