What are they? Fender calls it Delta Tone. Are they good. Same as texas specials.
Alnico V mags.
Not as hot as T.S.'s but they are VERY good sounding pickups. Some might not give them a fair shake because they are "stock" factory pickups but for modern Strat tone I think they are kind of the beachmarlk.
I like them better than the Fat 50s that are in my 2013 Am Std. As SJ says, Alnico V magnets, Polysol wire, plastic bobbins. Proves to me you don't need vintage construction to make a great sounding pup.
The replies for far IMO are spot on.
I have used just about every pup fender has put out
as well as several offerings from various winders.
The ones you have work well as well as any.
The Delta Tone refers to the mid/bridge pickup tone control,
turned all the way down it is bypassed.
You will feel it reach a spot past 0 where it is bypassed IMO not very useful,
but can be when you need to cut through in certain situations .
Band and room settings, amp and pedals etc etc.
search delta tone here or on the fender site for a better explanation.
99.9 percent of a players tone comes from their abilities to play rather than what gear is used.
on a delta tone, the tone control is bypassed all the way up on 10 not all the way down on 0
Those are great pickups. I've got a set in a highway 1 that I took from my o6 oly white.
