Vettes are nice and all, but I'd be more interested in Chevy bringing out a modernized version of this. I'm a sucker for a Corvair............................:D

Like Enzo Ferrari famously said, "I build cars for young men that only old men can afford."

DISCLAIMER: No offense to any of our wonderful females in the audience - it was his quote, not mine.

I think the American team driving GT40s placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in LeMans in 1966. That may be why. Even the reissue is an awesome vehicle.

EDIT: It was 1966, not 1970

In my younger days, I owned a couple Corvettes.....the trouble with them is you don't get in them, they "put you on"!! You have to be fairly small and agile to be comfortable in one of these, and I suspect this new one with the mid-engine will be even worse. They're lots of fun, but lots of $'s and my poor old body just shakes looking at that thing!

Oh man! That’s exactly like the 65 Turbo Corsa that I bought in 68... my baby Vette! What a great car, and fast!! 180 hp when the turbo kicked in.
My buddy in our drag club is building a 66 with a Buick V6 in the back seat. Mid engine sweetness. I had a blue printed 283 ready to pop into my Corsa and was about to send away for the conversation kit from Crown Manufacturing when we blew the engine in our 62 Pontiac stock car. So the 283 ended up in the dirt tracker. That did not turn out well, but that’s another story:(

The cab forward and mid-engine design should actually provide more overall space for the driver - especially legroom. The lateral space remains the question for me (which may be your point). It is hard to tell from here, so I will just ask Jay for his.

I will let you know in a month or so. ;)

Ahem, not to be picayune (ok, maybe a little), but this is the real Baby Vette :)

Cant go wrong with a clean '66, though Ive always admired the 63 split which was a little underpowered IMO unless you had one with the FI L84 powerplant. That version had 360 hp.

It's a bit ironic coming from me as an avid biker as this model was blamed for a lot of blind spot issues with motorcycles and other smaller traffic elements like pedestrians.

    That thing is pretty badass.
Not as aesthetically sexy as the old school ones, but A LOT of car for 60K

So much has changed in it for 2020. The suspension is now double wishbone I believe. It would be interesting to find out if the suspension is easier on the butt or not. I have not ridden in one in a long time. The last was a C4 and I remember you would feel it running over a toothpick. The C7 is a world class car, and the C8 is over the top. I hope they sell a whole bunch so I can buy one used at a decent price in a couple years.

EDIT: $60K is decent for this car, I just can't afford that when I am in the under $30K market.

Those seemed pretty cool back in the day. I like to think the 96 to 2006 XK is a way more civilized driver while maintaining curb appeal.

Back to the thread subject, here one of the top Corvette salesmen in the country breaks down the pricing structure. Turns out they start at less than 60K.

They recently auctioned the "last" front engine Vette for over $2 million.

I would even drive a yellow one of either version.

    Maybe my next lifetime....

Classic British sports cars are hard to find in the US, most of them have been exported back to Europe. :(

Since my other car is a mid-engined MR2, I am drooling for this 'vette !
