Yes, such a simple system. Five pennies to the nickel, two nickels to the dime, two and a half dimes to the quarter.
I wouldn't worry about Bit.. he's probably out with his Squire..
Doing what walking his estate?
It's a term of endearment
Where art thou?
It's amazing that anything works in this crazy country!
He is that 3d !
Yep, and a quid and ten bob were notes. As soon as they became coins they were effectively devalued. If you had a pocket full of change and a 19 bob note, you’d rummage to find the right money in change rather than break a note. When 10 shillings (50p), was just another coming, you didn’t worry about using it.
That sums it up nicely I think. Also when ten bob and a quid were notes they became like tatty bits of paper eventually, purely for the reason that they had indeed become small change. Devalued. Same happened with a fiver and tenner, now plastic. That's devaluation right in front of your eyes.
I actually remember saving up my pocket money and my Mum giving me a ten bob note for it. I felt incredibly rich to have it in my possession. She took me to Woolworths in the end, and I bought Airfix kits with it. I felt so proud handing it over.. ha ha..
Think we need to send a search party nd fill the barrel with Guinness
Just had a PM from the man himself. I'm not going to give any clues as to where he is, except for the pic below, but says he's enjoying himself and wants you lot off his back..
You may need either bigger barrels or more dogs
Now you've gone and spoiled it
Least he knows he's missed though. Thrupers in his speedos now there's an image.
