I was reading an article today that said a 1962 strat was the best year model ever made. They changed things up a good bit that year from the thickness of the rosewood the way they stamped the necks, the way they painted the guitar and several other things that if interested in you can check out for yourself. I never really thought about this before so I thought it would be interesting to see what year other people really like or thinks it has something that makes it a little better than other years. Thanks

Hendrix favorite Strat was a 1960/Sunburst.

    Individual taste IMHO.

My “best” Strat is a 1990 ‘57 AVRI. Some people have a best Strat that’s a squire. Or an American Standard. Or a classic vibe. Or any of a million other models.

I owned a '62 Strat for many years in the 80's and have to say that it was an exceptionally good sounding guitar. But honestly I liked it more once I put EMG SA pickups with SPC mid boost in it, so who knows? I like my 2005 Clapton Strat now. Stratoblaster said it:

No such thing as best strat model. They're all different.

You find the best one for YOU.

They started using a rubber stamp, I guess dipped in ink instead of marking the date made in pencil, or that's how I understood it

How do you figure that? For the last two years of his life the only strats he was pictured playing were 1968 white and a black maple slab fretboard strats. Surely by then Jimi could have used any strat he liked.

Me either but again I just read things and that doesn't make it true but it said they usually sold for between 17K to 34K, so I guess I will never own one if that is true.

I hate to say it but, the very best playing strats are after 2010

Old muscle cars are beautiful classics, but they get their asses handed to them by today's monsters.

yeah Mark that’s why they started using the stamp- to make it clearer. (Add sarcasm to taste for that comment buddy :))

'62 clearly introduced tone-ink, not to be confused with that stuff you put in you inkjet printer. Obviously the ink creates a clearer tone that the old method with pencil markings, which were of course highly variant guitar-to-guitar.
