The guitar that I built for the Crime Stoppers unit sold at auction tonight for $675 with the hanger stand I made for it a couple days ago. Again, this was completely to raise funds for the Crime Stoppers commission and I get nothing out of it...which is how I wanted it. Not bad for a guitar that I built almost completely from parts laying in my shop. I only bought a pickguard and jack boat which paired with the materials for the stand totaled less than $45.
Great guitar, great cause! Congrats on that. Someone is going to be very happy playing and admiring that. Keep up the good work. It’s inspiring!
Good on you for helping your community and nice work on the guitar as well. I guess a "jack boat" is where the cable goes?
Thank you everyone. I really enjoy these builds. @33db Yes, the jack boat is the boat shaped plate the output jack is mounted into.
Cool!! At some fundraisers, things can get competitive. I played at a few hospital foundation fundraisers years back.. they had a “dessert auction” where they would bring out cakes that a table can bid on, and share at the table. I distinctly remember some cakes (average sized round cakes for 5-7 people) going for 300-500 bucks. I’d much rather have the guitar for the money.
