I can’t even count how many times I’ve been there. Love it every time. My best buddy, may he RIP, and I hiked and skied there many times. He liked it so much he named his daughter for the beautiful lake in the high country, Tenaya.

    I’m glad you enjoyed it.

That picture looks like it's from an album cover from the late 60's. :thumb:

That's exactly what Yosimite will always make me think of for the rest of my life.
Jimmy Chin's other movie (the other one I saw, on TV) is also
    excellent. MERU.

It so amazing there. I've been there twice. The second time was spring and were weren't able to go up to Glacier point due to snow but it was still awesome.

Yosemite is gorgeous, albeit crowded, in the summer. In my teens and twenties I went there several times. Depending on which way you are heading, Sequoia and Kings Canyon Nat'l parks are very nice, and on the other side of the mountains and a bit south the "Eastern Sierras" are spectacular, especially around Mammoth Lakes, June Lake, Mono Lake, etc. You have a lovely family BTW. Enjoy!

It's just a video on youtube answering the question "just how fast can a bear run and climb"? The answer is unbelievably fast. Search youtube for "bear chasing another bear".

You could spend a lifetime exploring that section of the Sierras west to east and never see it all. John Muir spent a lifetime doing just that, walking to Yosemite from San Francisco and walking over Tioga Pass to Mono Lake when the pass was just a trail used by the Native Americans.

Here are two shots of Mono Lake. One is my Kayak beached on the Island that is about 4 miles out in the lake from the Tufa Towers were ya launch. I had to get a one night wilderness permit to be allowed to camp on the island. I took my small fold up chair, a few beers, and sat on the top of the island and watched the sun drop behind the Sierras. The island was all mine, alone. I will never forget that.

The second shot is the Tufa towers, not my pic.
