And the Marshall is eagerly awaiting to inaugurate him. NSD!!!!! I just picked this up a couple days ago and am eagerly awaiting i's arrival So I can put it into my DSL401. I tried a vox speaker last year and it was ok but just now what I was looking for so I ended up putting the original speaker back in but still don't have that tight sound that I'm hunting.

I was really wanting to get a Red Fang but this one had the right price for me right now. I've heard good things about, and from, them so far so I just decided to give it a try.

It's the Eminence version of a Celestion V30. Should give you a tight enough bottom end. I actually prefer the Eminence speakers I've used to replace two of my V30s.

Me too, just got an amp from Allen Amplification, that has a 12" Eminence speaker that just rocks, or well just blues and blues rocked.

Meant to add this to my previous post, but I don't pay much attention to the price of a speaker any more. Super expensive does not mean super great sounding speaker. Found that out the hard way, a few times. In my latest amp, Allen, he uses a relatively inexpensive speaker. I was wondering why he would do that in a relatively (for a 1 X 12 combo) expensive amp. Go figure. It uses the Eminence "Red White and Blues" speaker. Killer speaker.

I don't know what the new price of this one is new but I picked it up for $65 shipped to my door. I don't think I made out too bad. Especially if it's supposed to be the same as a Vintage 30. I was really considering the V30 for quite a while but kept spending enough money on other projects to not be able to get one. This one was perfectly timed and in my price range for this week. Maybe I could have gotten a more expensive one next week but I wasn't ready to wait and see. LOL

I’m excited to hear how this one turns out in your amp!

I think you made out well, especially since this is one of the made in the USA models they don’t make domestically anymore.

$65 Shipped to your door. Considering the cost of shipping now days, if it's pleasing to your ears, I'd say you got a heck of a deal! Hell, the Eminence company is located right down the road, in Louisville KY. I don't know if I could get one at anywhere near that price, shipped to my door.

Humor me here, what other amps would this speaker sound great in? The price certainly seems right. I love discussions of this type, and I'm regularly reading new amp reviews that include this line: "It sounded good, but so much better once I ditched the stock speaker".

Cool! Thank you for the insight! What did the Ruby Red do for it? I remember your thread about it now after reading it again. The part about lifting the BR because of overheating issues was a real deal for me. I couldn't get a new rectifier quick enough as I had to play the next day. My "temporary" fix was to remove it, solder leg extensions on it and reuse the original until I got the new one. It worked for that gig with no issues at all. That was 7 years ago and it's still working fine. If it ever gives me another issue then I'll swap it.
