What about if you use your other, big skinny, fingers?

I usually keep them apart. For 4 years I had one in town, and one in the BIG city (the perfect arrangement)

A Les Paul is the worst guitar on the planet except for all the others. Having said that, there is little doubt in my mind that a Strat is the best guitar on the planet except for all the others.

Dangerous game, one overheard ‘phone call, one person in both places, could easily end on tears!

Sorry but ‘no’. No amount of player skill can make a LP sound the same as a Strat through the same amp. ‘It’s all in the fingers’, yeah, right, ‘watch me get a Strat bridge pup sound out of this Les Paul plugged straight into my Twin Reverb’. And ‘getting my Strat to sound exactly like the two ‘buckers on my LP into that Marshal head and 4 x 12 is a synch if I pluck the strings a certain way’.

Yes, they have. California passed a stupid law (imagine) that makes it all but impossible to label anything "MADE IN USA". All current Fenders simply say "CORONA CALIFORNIA".

I have owned lps, teles L5, es 335. All high end. About 5 years ago I got a partscaster and wound up using it the most for gigs, r&b. Classic rock. Fusion. I recently sold my anderson tele and purchased a K line strat. Love it, it covers everything and has the best tone and playability I have experienced in my 35 years of playing.

    I'll add a serious response:
Strats are cheaper. Better for value-minded guitarists. Epiphone doesn't make a 1:1 Les Paul knockoff like Squier does with the Strat. Yes, Epi makes those slab-body LP Specials, but Squier Strats (and most other cheap knockoffs) have belly cuts and body contours...to have the equivalent of an LP Special in a Strat, you'd basically have a Tele slab body in a Strat shape.

My ‘73 stays in tune uncannily well considering the abuse it saw early on. :p

Interesting slant on the debate. Strat with no contours? Seen Teles with contours but not vice versa, from Fender anyway.

Les Paul challenges you to a duel, and pulls out... the Paulverizer...

They don't cost the same to manufacture, why would they cost the same to the consumer?
