Maybe out of boredom because of lockdowns in Sydney I thought about the above... can't go and check in shops...

There's Taylor 214CE which has scale length and nut width the same as my Tele: https://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/acoustic/214ce-plus

Also I found two from Takamine which are pretty close:
    - GD93C BLK
    - EF341SC

    And pretty close Martin:

Are there more? Would you suggest to look at any other brand?

Also what bothers me is this - does width at the nut guarantee that the width at the end of a neck will still be relatively narrow as on Tele or Strat?

I have a Taylor 214ce-dlx. The neck profile is very similar to that of my Telecasters or somewhat of a soft "V".

I also have a Takamine GC93CE. The neck profile is a bit more of a rounded "C" but similar in depth to the neck on the Taylor.

The nut width on both models is 1 5/8" or 1 11/16" which would be the same or similar to most Teles and Strats.

    Thanks for the answer!

So width at the nut is usually specified. But how do you find the neck width at the joint? Does it go wider than Teles/Strats usually go? Maybe a noob question, but this is what it seems to me from the photos... looks are deceiving though :D

Martin and many other companies put the width at 12 fret on their specs. Most acoustics are going to be wider spacing at bridge than electric.

Taylor and Takamine neck widen as they go toward the body.

The neck on my Tak measures as follows:

    5th fret: 1.89"
    9th fret: 2.02"
    12th fret: 2.10"
    14th fret: 2.13"

The neck on my Epiphone is a bit wider:

    5th fret: 1.91"
    9th fret: 2.05"
    12th fret: 2.13"
    14th fret: 2.19"

My Taylor is up at my daughters house right now so I can't measure it until this weekend but from muscle memory I would say that it at least similar.

    These are the measurements from my Robt Cray Strat;

    5th fret: 1.85"
    9th fret: 1.98"
    12th fret: 2.05"
    14th fret: 2.09"

@soulman969 thank you - muchly appreciated!

Indeed it seems so from the empiric approach from the post above! It is what it is...

    Thank you for your input!

The nut width has almost nothing to do with string spacing at the bridge. This is a reflection of the neck taper not the nut width.

I own a few Fender acoustics that I love just for the fact that they are similar to my strat necks....my San Miguel and Kingman are both right around 1.65" at the nut and a scale just shy of 25.5"....I think they are 25.3"....

I know a lot of people pooh pooh the Fender acoustics, but honestly, they sound nice and play easy....

I also have a Taylor 810ce that is a nicer sounding guitar, but it also cost about 5 times what the Fender's cost.....

Here is a pic of my Kingman:

You can get one minus the cutaway and maybe the girls will think you're Elvis.....

    You have the point here!

Currently my only acoustic I have is Cort mr710f, which is a good guitar, plays well and sound nice unplugged. I'm not too happy with the sound of its Fishman pickup for some reason... maybe it's because subconsciously I would like it to sound the same as unplugged :D And probably I would be complaining about just about any guitar when comparing plugged vs unplugged. Although people praise Takamine preamps a lot...

Check out the Blueridge BR163. Inspired by the OOO-28, made in the Grand Reward factory in China to a high standard using beautiful solid spruce and rosewood. I bought one recently, needs some nut work but otherwise faultless. The neck profile is quite a slim C, a tad too slim for me if I'm being picky but then again my electrics tend to have chunky necks.

EDIT: just checked bridge spacing, 53mm, much the same as Fender modern. Certainly not made for fingerpicking!

I love my Taylor K14 and dug the 914ce but I’m glad I traded the 914 for this Larrivee D-09 Brazilian.
