Hey Everyone! Man, have I got some questions for you guys. I began playing in 1965, when I was 13, on my older brother's Gibson LG-1. Played mostly in the proverbial bedroom for the better part of 25 years, with an occasional band -- I didn't have time for anything more. During that time I was a Gibson fan and bought a shiny new 1973 SG Standard (Norlin...need I say more?). I should have bought the white Tele hanging next to it! I played that until about 1978, when I traded it for a Fender BF Bassman Head, circa 1965. Also in '78 I attended Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery, in Phoenix, where I built three electrics and an one acoustic. The third electric was my own design; until that point they only allowed students to use their designs. Another first at R-V was I wound the first humbucker -- they said it couldn't be done on Bob Venn's fairly basic pickup winder. Hah! Long story short, I didn't start repairing guitars until the mid-'90s and I only recently retired from doing so. I did build some guitars for myself, though I was never that interested in building them for a living -- I had a decent career as a cabinetmaker/furniture builder. Retired from that too. I'm currently on a hiatus (like so many of us) from the jazz trio I'm in. In reverse order of acquirement, my Fender gear: 2020: Special Edition ‘60s Stratocaster Daphne Blue Lacquer (2015) MIM, purchased new. 2018: 1964 Blackface Tremolux (I had one in HS, which I sold, unfortunately) 2006: 1974 Silverface Princeton Reverb 2001: 2001 American Standard Tele 1999: 1964 Princeton 6G2 Other gear, guitars, etc.? Yes, many. Alrighty, time to dive into the forums, and see what new things I can learn about Strats!
