The UK Digital Minister (who I didn't know we had...) has told ticket buyers that if they had to use a secondary site to buy tickets, "don't choose Viagogo - they are the worst".

Viagogo have been breaking UK advertising rules by failing to make additional fees clear. Let's just hope that stuff like this is the beginning of the end for these money grabbing secondary agencies whose only function is to fleece innocent gig goers. Maybe this means that the government is going to start to take this problem seriously? What a shame that it took the actions of Ed Sheeran (who seems to be cool as well as talented) to bring this to their attention, & (hopefully) force the government to take action.

As Ed Sheeran said - gig tickets should have a fixed price that everybody pays.

I've tried Viagogo before but the *tty way they put the ticket sale together has caused me to abandon before paying.

Leaves me wondering why people go ahead and pay the final price that is presented.

Presumably because (by fair means or foul) they manage to acquire the best seats. And then they are the only agency with decent seats left (or indeed any seats at all) so people feel compelled to pay their exorbitant prices if they feel they really have to see that gig. Or, in many cases, because they want to buy tickets as a present & only the rip-off secondary agencies have any tickets left.

Us regular gig-goers know that you often need to get your tickets the day (or even the hour) they go on sale. Those unfamiliar with ticket buying may not know that, so by the time they realise there's a concert on, the only option left is secondary agencies. If they were taken out of the equation, everybody would benefit - except for the secondary agencies of course....
