Am I the only one that thinks these guitars are absolutely horrible, except from maybe the grey top tele and the burst blackguard strat?

[EDIT: this is a completely shallow topic that wont change anyones life, apparently, this is not just understood.]

Not a fan, either. Too much bling for my brain.

In situations like this I always think of a crotchety old grizzled Merle Haggard with his over the top blinged out signature Tele - just doesn’t make sense to me...

But, hey, if it floats yer boat who am I to stop anyone from getting their bling fix...

Kinda random. Let's face it, there's only so many variations to do on these guitars, and the best ones have already be done and copied since they work. But corporations have to do stuff like this I suppose to stir up interest. At least they are short run.

Horrible is a strong word...I would say unappealing for my tastes.I am more interested in the classic vintage inspired aesthetic rather than these experimental and intentionally different looking guitars. But Fender is smart by creating a small batch of limited run guitars uniquely differently from their mostly classic inspired line. There are some players who want something different from the classic aesthetic to avoid the cliche look. Not everyone wants the classic Buddy Holly style 1957 two tone sunburst Strat and Fender is smart enough to cater to that niche market.Creating a limited run also might interest collectors. So at the end of the year Fender sells some extra guitars that didn't cater to their typical clientele...smart business move.

I like what I like. These don't fall into that range. But that's ok--some will buy them.

Sitting at an outdoor cafe last night with my wife having creme brulee and a fresh fruit torte with ice cream, there was a 3 piece jazz group playing about 10 feet away. The guitar player was playing a gaudy Tele with a red bound body, blue pearl guard and a cream colored neck humbucker. Looked awful, sounded GREAT.

I'll say it outloud... I like a nice grain. Especially quilted bodies and flame necks.

Is quilted and flame maple bling? Gold and chrome and brass hardware are bling. Wait. I like that too.

I love the one Lee plays at the start. The rosewood neck with flame maple fingerboard is gorgeous!

I can't watch any of those Andertons vids with that smarmy git gobbing off and he just wont Shut the FU. the poor co-hosts can never get a word in edgewise.

he's got that "I'm Entitled" arrogance
    Beyond annoying.

The Fender site showed the flame maple strat - looked like a root beer finish on the LP Supreme from 2003 or thereabouts.

Ahhh, yes... people forget, ya cannot hear how a guitar looks,. and if you can play it, the people will remember that and forget what guitar it was and how it looked. If ya can't play, no one gives a hoot one way or the other.. :p

I don't think the 2 quilt top Teles are bad. I hate the pickguard and neck on the strat on the far left at the end of the video. To each their own.

There also the posibility that you can play guitar, you happen to play a guitar that looks like a proper designed whole, and people enjoy your playing, the sound and the look of the guitar... you forgot to mention that possibility, and there has been cases (Knopfler, Clapton, Gilmour) lol

What i mean is that the post was about those rarity guitars an the opinions they may bring up.

Unlike you, I dont build guitars so I dont get to choose what to produce, but I get to have an opinion :) I just dont like the concept of putting together whatever bling parts and selling them for more $... I dont have a problem with anyone liking those tho, to each their own.

By the way, Im a fan ;)
